A Troll’s Lament, as complained to this FReeper
Vanity | November 5, 2004 | Mine, Mine

Posted on 11/05/2004 12:17:36 PM PST by OESY

As told to this FReeper:

TROLL: "Look at what Republicans have posted to celebrate their victories on Tuesday.

"Necessity compels me to ask, as a troll, Who in this world ever decided that the electoral map should be divided between Red states for Republicans and Blue states for Democrats? This is unfortunate and unfair.

"Red has always stood for the Glorious Russian Revolution, and the Chinese Reds, not to mention Bolsheviks, Communists, Socialists, Independents from Vermont, ... and Red Sox fans from ultra-liberal Boston.

"By this sinister plot, Democrats have been robbed of their colorful identity. We have lost control of one of the most powerful symbols of our Party, as well as a cherished heirloom of historical proportions.

"Instead, this advantage has been stolen from us -- like the election of 2000 -- and handed over to Republicans, who benefit from all the positive associations that relate to states that are healthy and thriving -- as people migrate there from Blue states. Red under this sinister scheme has come to stand for red-blooded, American, sanguine, healthy, ruddy, optimistic, lively, spirited and dashing.

"Democrats are now relegated to all manner of things associated with the color Blue. Blue stands for sad, lonely, gloomy, discouraged, depressed, rust-belt, blue nun, and out-of-the-blue policies that don’t work. Does this not conjure up images of an “Old America” versus a “New America”?

"We protest, and make a non-negotiable demand that these colors be rotated each and every election year.

"Alternatively, we demand that colors for Democrat-won states be adopted that are more in line with our hip and stylish Hollywood-like image, like mauve or fuscous."

Actually, until this year, Red was for the challenger party and Blue was for the incumbent party. But after so much was made over "Red America" in 2000, I guess the MSM group-think was that making the 'Pubbies blue this time would just be too confusing.

Speaking of Liberal losers, is there someplace on the net where I can see footage of Judy Woodruff tearing up when the inevitable became clear? I'd love to see that.

He also carried the Catholic vote.

52-to-47 percent. Way too many Kennedy/Harkin/Kerry "Catholics" out there.

Undoubtedly, that is true. Additionally, I think the MSM were afraid the "red" label attached to Dem states would carry an unflattering ideological tag, and that would be unacceptable to the MSM.

Three states appear to be SOLID red!

In the big USA today map two states are all red (OK and NE), and a few have only one county blue (AK, WY, NV, & maybe ID?). UT has some incomplete counties.

Actually, I've felt the same way as troll has for the past 4 years. I associate red with the left. I think the press chose the colors during the 2000 election.

A map proportional to the number of EVs in each state (the map was generated before the final results were in) shows why the final popular-vote result was 52-47; there's a lot of low population counties in the "flyover" country:

Tell the TROLL that the choice of RED and BLUE was done by the BRANCH of ORGANIZED CRIME, known as the MSM.

They chose RED for (R) and BLUE for (D) because it is a well known fact that the color RED produces an UNCOMFORTABLE feeling in human beings. It is a flight-fight response built into our system.

BLUE produces CALM.

The MSM always supports the DEMS, because the DEMS are the ones the MSM sells it's power to DIRECT the thoughts of the public to.

OK. I’m just a dumb Male Southern Redneck.
What are mauve or fuscous in colors I understand – like shades of red, blue, yellow?

There is a certain body part(s) on the human male that turns blue in times of deep sexual frustration (which is pretty much 24/7 in the case of most of our opposition). I'll leave it to your imagination as to exactly which part(s) that might be ;)
