I see a lot of posts about 2008, but we need a sweeping victory in 2006 first.

Put George Allen in the safe and sound territory and give me what you have been smoking. I need to relax.

Agreed....All the House is up again '06.....We can hope that the 'rats keep up their snarling, spitting obstructionist business-as-usual ways.

I think the present 'rat establishment can't help but try the same old things....they can't change...it's in their genes......it's the way they are.....cats catch birds...it's the way they are.

The 'rats will keep on, thru the ACLU et al, ramming gay marrige, removal of Christian symbols from our buildings, forcing gay rights, removing God from all our institutions,.....using the courts to force laws that they cannot get passed thru legislation...down our collective throats. The U.S. map cannot help get anything except redder.

The 'rats can only look forward to losing more house and Senate seats in '06 and in '08 the R's will maybe gain a veto-proof Congress. When that happens, the 'rats will be religated to being a minority for a hundred years.

Kennedy is safe with the voters in MA; their brains are frozen. However, Kennedy is likely to have liver disease, stroke, heart attack - so he may not be able to run again.

Bush will send Rove out to tackle the 2006 election. He will leave the senate and house in good shape and set the framework for the 08 election. Guaranteed. Bush, as we have all learned leaves no stone unturned. He is meticulous.

GW should offer a plum ambassadorship to any rat senator where the senator's state governor is a republican. The senator takes the ambassadorship, the Republican governor appoints a republican to take the Rat's remaining term, and we have anothe republican senator.

Two examples:

1. Offer Kerry to be ambassador for life to Viet Nam.
2. Offer Kennedy to be ambassador for life to Ireland.
3. Offer Schumer ambassador for life to Israel.
4. Offer Godzilliary ambassador for life to Russia.
5. Send DiFi to China as their life time ambassador.
6. Send Barbara Boxer to Cuba as life time ambassador.

That would leave some great spots open like ambassador to France, Spain, Germany, Syria, Iran, and Canada.

This would be a great way to weed out the remaining rats in the Senate and get Republican replacements with no election costs.

Rumor has it that Byrd (KKK-WV) may retire. He'll be 86 years old in 2006.

I suggest that people look at the states where Kerry had a slight lead over Bush. Democrats in those states are the ones who are endangered if Republicans have a control over what kinds of bills come up for a vote (and they most certainly do).

Look at this last election. No incumbent fell close to the wire except for Daschle and Bunning. Both special cases (for different reasons, obviously).

There isn't a single Democrat or Republican up-in-2006 Senate incumbent who is truly vulnerable for the general election.

Cantwell, Stabenow, and Clinton are at most somewhat vulnerable, as is Santorum.

Chafee is technically vulnerable to lose the Republican primary -- but he's going to change parties, and cruise to re-election as a Democrat, if a serious opponent gets into the Republican primary. He'll switch earlier if Specter is denied the Judiciary chairmanship.

Red state senators that need to be targeted in the event of a fillabuster:

Conrad, Kent (D) North Dakota, Nelson, Ben (D) Nebraska, Nelson, Bill (D)Florida and Bingaman, Jeff (D) New Mexico.

We defeated Daschle. We can defeat anyone -- well, almost!

It would be sweet to get a 60+ filibuster proof majority in the Senate.

Then Bush can really appoint the judges he wants.

Unfortunately, Kennedy is safe. Liver failure is the only way he'll leave office. Byrd may retire or die before 2006. Clinton my not choose to run if she's planning on taking a shot at the Oval Office in 2008. A presidential run takes about two years. The less time she serves in the Senate the better off she is. Feinstein is safe, too. The people of Cali love her. If they can talk Arnold into running against her, she might be in some trouble, but I really don't see her losing her seat otherwise. Corzine might be in some trouble. NJ is covered in a Dem ick because of their gov., and Corzine failed miserably as the chair of the Dems for Senate org.

Jeffords? I don't think he's in too much trouble. He screwed the GOP, but I don't think that matters to the voters in his state.

All the GOP Sens. you listed as likely to be defeated, I think are safe except for Lugar maybe, but Frist will win. Hutchison will win. Lott will win, and if Hatch decides not to retire, he'll win.

You can count on Feinstein being re-elected. Our party leadership out here is so inept.

Rumors abound that Feinstein may retire in 2006 at age 73.

Frist is not running for re-election, he has a self-imposed term limit of 2.

Bingaman unseated a former astronaut, Harrison Schmitt, in the Democrat year of 1982. He is never vulnerable though no one can explain his appeal to the typical NM voter.
