FLASHBACK: ULTRA-LIBERAL SENATOR SCHUMER (D-NY) ASKS BUSH TO NOMINATE SPECTER TO SUPREME COURT
GrassrootsPA ^ | 11/6/04 | GrassrootsPA

From a June 10, 2003 letter on Senator Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) website:

While there are scores of Democrats whom I would hope you would consider, I am offering only individuals who either are Republicans or have previously been nominated by Republican Presidents. The candidates I would advise you to consider are:

The Honorable Arlen Specter, Republican Senator from Pennsylvania.

From Robert Novak:

Sen. Charles Schumer of New York, a leader in establishing a liberal litmus test on judicial opponents, last year wrote Bush listing Specter among desirable Supreme Court nominees. If the president can accept George Soros's choice for the Senate, could he go along with Chuck Schumer's suggestion for the Supreme Court?

STOP SPECTER FROM BLOCKING BUSH'S JUDGES

Contact Senator Frist 202-224-3135

Contact Senator Santorum 202-224-6324

Tell them in no uncertain terms that Specter cannot be made Senate Judiciary Chairman

Do NOT take "no" for an answer!

I believe Specter's health would prevent it. Dementia is just too debilitating.....

Hey Chuckie: vote for Clarence Thomas for Chief Justice and you can have Arlen Specter on the SCOTUS. Deal?

That does it! I was skeptical about the rumor before, but
now I'm convinced. They actually DO believe Bush is an idiot! He should consider recommendations from SCHUMER?
Hah!

Chunkhead,

Shut up and concern yourself with the sexual issues you democrats love so much. Leave the important appointment decisions to the winners. Remember, a loser like you isn't relevant and shouldn't be making demands on the President against the voter's wishes. Go somewhere and watch HBO or Showtime.

Beginning with the new Congress next year, we need to initiate a massive email/letter-writing campaign to Dem senators to stop their immature non-filibuster filibusters of Bush's SC nominees and let the process work as defined by the Constitution.

Bush won a mandate and he AND the spineless Republicans in the House and Senate need to start exercising their new political muscle. It is time for them to stop groveling at the feet of the Dems and start standing up and using the political power that we voters gave them.

This is their opportunity to demonstrate that they are up to the power we gave them on 11/2. If they won't do what we sent them to do, we can change the order of things in the next election cycle - mandate or not.
