FOUR MORE YEARS -- A MANDATE
Fiedor Report On the News #324 ^ | 11-7-04 | Doug Fiedor

First order of business: Thank you Florida!

People there are still cleaning up after the hurricanes and some still do not have proper residences. Yet they took the time to stand in line to vote. We should all take the time to send a note of thanks to a friend in Florida.

Y'all see all the red on that USA Today map? Check out the difference between the 2000 map and this year's.[1]

Dubya is the first President to be re-elected and gain seats in both the House and Senate since 1936. The last President to receive an outright majority of the popular vote was George H. W. Bush -- in 1984. That is, George W. Bush's election victory makes him the first American president since 1988 to win majorities in both the popular vote and the Electoral College, and we call that a mandate.

Blue chips posted a triple-digit gain Wednesday and the Nasdaq closed above the 2,000 level for the first time in four months after Dubya won a second term.

President Bush won 3.28 million square miles of counties versus the other guy's 741,000. Dubya won counties representing 150.9 million people verses 103.6 million for the liberal opponent.

President Bush won a larger popular vote than any candidate that has ever run for office in our nation's history. Again, a mandate.

So what does all this mean to us out here in flyover country? Probably a lot, really. Because, with this mandate, President Bush now will feel better about proposing bold new programs -- some of which many of us will really like.

For instance, President Bush has already indicated he would favor abolishing the IRS and instituting some sort of flat tax. We can -- all of us -- argue out the how and what of that later. Fact is, most Americans want the IRS gone. Bush also suggested, for all who want them, tax-free medical savings accounts and personal retirement savings accounts.

It appears that we'll need a new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court soon. Probably at least two Justices, too. Picking up a few extra seats in the Senate, as Republicans did, will help get good people seated. President Bush indicated that he prefers Justices who subscribe to the original intent doctrine of the Founding Fathers. That will be a new breath of fresh air because they might actually limit the federal government to operating under the Constitution again. (One can wish a little.)

Republicans now firmly control the House and Senate. Which means, we must now start holding their feet to the fire. Our borders need much better protection and federal officials must start enforcing federal law -- by apprehending and shipping out illegal aliens. If we, as citizens, are expected to obey federal law, so must foreigners. Perhaps, after tax enforcement is taken away from the IRS, we could use them to take care of that little problem. Other federal agencies are certainly not doing a very good job of it.

Our Second Amendment rights must be enforced federally, too. Concealed carry permits should be much easier to get and, like a driver's or marriage license, applicable anywhere in the nation. When the news is terrorism, let every honorable citizen who wishes be armed.

There is also the little problem of Bill Clinton. As expected, Clinton wants to honcho the United Nations. That, of course, must never be allowed to happen. We do not expect the Bush administration to even consider such a nomination. But, even if Clinton so much as mentions that again, we must be ready to counter loudly.

Yes, the GOP has a "mandate" now. But we must not forget that we put them there. We want something for that -- a list of some things, actually. It is our job, and our right, to make our wishes clear. Then, if they do not do what we wish, take them out in the next primary.

They may think that mandate is theirs. It is not. It is ours.

Think about it.

Bush may abolish the IRS for a flat tax.

New Justices in Scotus can bring back the Constitution.

Borders must be protected and illegals exported. Old IRS guys can do that.

Concealed carry must become available.

Clinton must NEVER honcho the UN.

The new mandates belong to we people.

It was a group effort. The nation all chipped in ;)

I always knew Florida would win easy. Bush support here was astounding if you go just based on bumper stickers and GOTV efforts. Two to three days prior to election day, many hard working Bush supporters took the streets here in Sarasota outnumbering Kerry-ites at least 100 to 1. It was quite a site driving through town to bear witness to it. Good job, folks!

" by apprehending and shipping out illegal aliens. Old IRS guys can do that. "

There is a bunch of "public servants" who could be doing this, since they don't seem to be doing much now. Of course, the Social Securiy administration people will be way too busy, since now they will be approving benefits for illegals under the Bush Administrations new totalization agreement with Mexico.

Flat tax? We know on the record that the House Speaker is pushing for a sales taxes from his book.

Let's hope for the best and remember that income tax was originally a flat tax. Let's not make that same mistake.

Good luck. I have all but given up on them. What I believe we'll see, is their amnesty plan shoved down our throats, as millions more pour in, while you and I are forced to continue to pay for this titanic lawlessness.

Thanked the vets and donated to their cause.

Saw Stolen Honor on TV, paid for by NewsMax the last weekend before the election and I was heart broken all over again for those brave men.

"Bush support here was astounding if you go just based on bumper stickers and GOTV efforts."

Just remember, knowledge that poll watchers present kept untold thousands of illegal kerry voters away. This alone MAY have made the difference. After all, the dems have had a force of phoney voters out for years.

Just to put this into perspective. President Bush received 59,459,765. The most votes President Reagan ever got was 54,455,075. Bush is much more popular that Reagan ever was.
