Thomas Friedman, columnist for The New York Times, wrote: ''But what troubled me yesterday was my feeling that this election was tipped because of an outpouring of support for George Bush by people who don't just favor different policies than I do--they think I am a pompous ass. We don't just disagree on what America should be doing; we disagree on my significance in the universe.''

Nice op ed by political scientist James Q. Wilson in todays WSJ (subscription required).

"...I am just as mystified by Mr. Friedman's lament that 'Christian fundamentalists' are ruining his America by fostering 'divisions and intolerance.' It would make as much sense to say that liberals are fostering division and intolerance by favoring abortion and gay marriages. In fact, abortion was not an issue in the election and Messrs. Bush and Kerry both opposed gay marriage. A ban on gay marriage was approved in Oregon, a state won by Sen. Kerry..."

Sad and depressing reality of those occupying the left mind-think. Frightening.

A writer in one of the British papers cited this same 44% number, but he said it represented people who had either completed or *attempted* a post-graduate degree -- not who had completed one. And I think I've read that those who actually hold a post-graduate degree identify themselves as Democrats 2 to 1 over Republicans.

Something to ask these 'educated' liberals, who like to say Bush is 'dumb -

"If he is so dumb, then a graduate degree is worthless. If Harvard graduated the man with an MBA, and Yale graduated him with a degree, (2 of the most highlyy esteemed schools in the country) that either dosen't bode very well for higher education, or he is really quite intelligent to have achieved that. Which is it? By the way, what schools did you graduate from smarty-pants?"
