Election Got You Blue & Don't Know What To Do? Here's The Answer-- It's Haiku!
11/8/04 | Various despondent, yet literary, Dems

Posted on 11/09/2004 7:06:06 AM PST by dukeman

The despondent Dems continue to search for ways to deal with and express their grief over President Bush's startling re-election. Somewhere between the grief stages of despair and acceptance some find solace in Haiku poetry. In my travels around the Internet to gauge the mind of the down and out liberal, I've come across the following [these are actual, not my work]:

November second.
That day lives in infamy.
Four more years of hell.

________________________________________

exit polls excite--
going to sleep well tonight!
say the 'F' word: FRAUD.

_______________________________________

Ohio in play?
Only during the daytime.
Nighttime brings Diebold.

_______________________________________

Friends overseas wish us well
Bush bends us over [not really hiaku, but does capture the anger]

_______________________________________

I thought I was just
As good as anyone else
But soon, FMA. [I need explanation]

_______________________________________

Polls are for losers
Bush stole two times in a row
America died.

_______________________________________

My short wait in line
Seemed so inconsequential
After four long years

_______________________________________

Time equals money.
Waiting 8 hours to vote -
Ohio classist.

TV news locked down.
Afraid to claim outright fraud.
Why are we so scared?

People still feel shock
Over the last "selection"
And fall of towers.

If veil is removed,
We have to acknowledge sin:
Iraq, Abu Ghraib

Sending Private Lynch
into hell at age nineteen.
Most in denial.

How to get the truth
out so all can hear it clear?
Message must be framed.

==I doubt something as trivial as a political party has that staying power.==

What matters is what it can do while it influences others. Hitler was only in power for a short time and look what he did.
