And the story will be, how we are eating our own, over "extremist" positions. And what if Specter jumps ship, joining the Democrats? They have us where they want us on this one, and we'd do best to back off--for the moment--and see if Arlen can play ball.
I disagree. He's proved himself already.
You are correct.
Besides, if a nominee isn't supported by Specter, the nominee won't pass in the full senate. Period.
How? - He will be set for the next 6 years - both as senator and judicial committee chairman...
Screw Specter.
He wanted help from the national GOP in his primary fight, saying that he would campaign for the President and help deliver PA.
Well, he didn't campaign for the President in any serious way.
He didn't deliver PA.
And then he has the gall to dictate to the President he failed to help?
F*** him. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
He already did, a long time ago.
Specter CANNOT be trusted with this position, period.
Bork Specter, or we'll all regret it, gauranteed.
We should take him down and David Dreier along with him.
So be it. We're conservatives. We do what's right and face the consequences. Let Specter do his devious and evil worst. We can take it. If I lived in PA, I'd vote for a liberal democrat before I'd vote for him. It's time we stop kowtowing to these types because they have an "R" after their name.
I agree.
Nonsense, this is vintage Spectre. Bobbing and weaving his way as obstructionist to conservative goals.
I don't get it. I've heard Rush, and I hear what you're saying. I just don't get it.
What is there to lose by knocking off Specter? Coming out of the elections, conservatives have momentum....why water it down by not using it? Is the MSM all of a sudden going to start being nice to us because we're "Reasonable" by not giving in to "Extremism?"...Specter is a liberal. Why can't the GOP get a backbone and start taking a stand for once in their life?
Why?
If you can show me the process to get rid of him as Chairman, I might agree. As far as I know, there is no way to change chairmen midstream.
VISIT TO SENATOR SANTORUM'S SENATE OFFICE BUILDING AFTERNOON REPORT (TUESDAY)
A little bird told me, who just visited Capitol Hill a few hours ago, that the entrance office (lobby) to Senator Santorum's Dirksen Bldg. office in D.C. had three staffers (one male, two female, just as nice and professional as could be) fielding calls one after the other.
--The three each had telephone ear pieces in and could barely talk to visitors to the office due to the avalanche of calls.
--My source said that as soon as there was a "thank you and goodbye", there was short ring, and another "Senator Santorum's office, may I help you?" from that person. Every issue seemed to be on SPECTER and it sounded to the source as if 90% or more were OPPOSED.
--Source said one of the staffers kept saying to callers "Senator Santorum is not on the Judiciary Committee, but have you given your opinion to the members of the Judiciary Committee?"
--They were clearly under the gun. It appeared, this source told me, that in about 10 minutes time, the three of them fielded about 25-30 calls. They were indeed typing the names and contact information of each and every caller, too.
(Received report: 3:15 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday)
He can't be trusted. If he jumps ship, he will only prove that he can't be trusted.
All this is assuming that a deal hasn't been made with the WH that Specter will only be sent nominees that he approves of in the first place.
I disagree that it would be a mistake. Having said that provided that the ability exists to boot his ass if he so much as thinks of stepping out of line he could be allowed to sit as chairman.
But if he makes one wrong move they would have to bust his ass immediately so that everyone knew they meant business.
How many times should we allow Specter to betray us? And as far as what the liberal media will say, screw them. Disloyalty and betrayal should not be rewarded.
Used to have a teacher that would pick out an unruly boy at the beginning of every school year and find an excuse to slap the snot out of them (happened to be me once). The result was, while it indeed ticked me off considerably, everyone else sat up, took notice and behaved the rest of the year.
Sorry, we did not fight and win this election to give in to the liberals. From now on, they are the ones fighting for a voice. We will stand our ground. Specter is history in the Republican Party (and so is anyone else who can't stand up to the plate and vote for W's agenda!)
