He's already "set" as senator, that can't change. As for the chairmanship, he absolutely can be removed. Constituents just start hammering the WH and other R members of the committee.
Politically, it's going to be very difficult to get the momentum going again just like that.

The Senate didn't have the cajohes to remove Billdo when it was clear he was a rapist, traitor, philanderer, had risked State secrets as well as sold state secrets etc.
The Senate is the GOOD OLD BOY'S CLUB OF ALL OLD BOY'S CLUBS. They'd avoid removing a Chairman just for APPEARANCES sake regardless of the risks to the nation.
