Dell Inc. said Tuesday that it would build its third U.S. manufacturing plant in North Carolina, employing at least 1,500 people within five years.
The new facility, scheduled to open in the fall of 2005 at a site to be determined, will produce desktop computers.

Maybe a few of our layoff and plant-closure fetishists could take a gander at this.

Cool...hopefully that will be more jobs than we will lose when IBM takes its wrath and moves some jobs out of our state in retaliation.

I don't think these fall into the "Government and hurricane damage-related jobs" catagory, but maybe they are minimum-wage burgerflipping jobs, or maybe....
Oh well, I give up. I'll let the gloom and doomers explain it to us.

Gee, I wonder why they keep building plants and adding jobs in "red states."
(Not really. To paraphrase "Double Indemnity" and Billy Wilder, I wonder if I wonder.)

And about two weeks ago, Dell selected a site just south of downtown OKC for a new call center that will start with about 1,000 employees. Again, Bush's fault.

Sssshhhh. Don't tell Willie G. He might join the poor hack who offed himself at ground zero the other day 'cause he couldn't bear the thought of not seeing cute Johnnie Edwards everyday on the tube.

It's nice to see that these RED STATES are producing and paying taxes. ;) I wonder what Lawrence O Donnel does to contribute to society. You know what they say about Lawrence, Only F*ggots and Sailors are named Lawrence. -Full Metal Jacket

building plants and adding jobs in "red states." Hmmm... a few years ago, Micron wanted to build a small-wafer chip fabrication plant in the mid-Atlantic region. Hmmm ... Decisions, decisions ... Maryland or Virginia ... Maryland or Virginia ...
Guess where they built it.

Do you mean they aren't going to build it in California, Oregon, Washington, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, ... etc. ?
To: A Balrog of Morgoth
Yeah and all the democrats in NC had to do was bribe them with $250 million in benefits. Better to have lowered taxes on the whole state, which has lost some 100,000 jobs or so in past 5 years. It's a start a very small start.
