Northern Lights are visible right now. I'm in Wisconsin and we have partial cloud cover, but I can see them through the gaps. It's pretty spectacular if you can see them.
I lived in Minneapolis for 10 years and only got to see them once.
Now I'm marooned in Arizona and can't see them--when apparently they are visible as far south as VIRGINIA.
G'rrr.
[EXIT RANT MODE]
Thanks for the heads up! I'm in Eastern Washington and I ran out, but the clouds are too thick to see much. I've yet to see a really spectacular showing, so I'm still looking.
How wonderful for you. I have always wanted to witness that awesome display. Even through partial cloud cover I am sure it takes your breath away. Enjoy!
Fools!
Those aren't the Northern Lights!
Those are demonrat souls frantically searching for their Valhalla or Gotterdemmerang after their defeat at the polls last week.
You can see them in Detroit too....No, wait, thats just the regular tracer gunfire.
DOESN'T THIS MEAN WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE?
I'm in Seattle and half of the sky is pink and the other half is dark...weird.

If anyone is interested, here is an explanation as to why they have been especially visible the last few nights:

Admit it...you're jealous. :-P
It's Canada telling the loserats to stay home.
Spectac in southern Maine at 2:40 or so AM local time. Lots of flashing, not just casual waving. Lots of energy being absorbed (and displayed) by our atomosphere.
I saw them in MN the other night.... Looks pretty cool
South western South Dakota. Very nice, mildly structured display early, between 9 & 10:30 (MST) from out of town, then it died down.
When I took trash out about midnight or so, the sky was boiling, and we watched for the next hour, then as it faded, kept peeking at increases, hoping for another come-back.
Sreamers, curtains, rays, pulses of color. Entire horizon from ENE to NW was glowing milky greenish, like an imminent moonrise, or even dawn. The rays punched upward all the way to zenith, even blotting out the Pleides at times.
It was incredible, especially with us at only ~43 N latitude, or ~51 N magnetic latitude.
I can hardly wait to get my film developed. Here's hoping I got the exposure settings right!
gosh...almost makes us 'Red Staters' wanna move up there.
