The Illinois Family Institute (IFI) received a troubling report yesterday of a grade (and middle) school in Carrier Mills that held an Opposite Sex Day in which students were encouraged to come to schools dressed as members of the opposite sex. At least one outraged mother pulled her children out of Carrier Mills-Stonefort Elementary School (kindergarten through 8th grade) after being informed about the cross-dressing day. Carrier Mills is about 45 minutes east of Carbondale.
One school staffer reached by IFI said the school had no radical agenda but was just looking for something silly for the kids to do. But Laura Stanley, who has several children at Carrier Mills, was hardly amused. This is not what I want my son taught at school, she told me. Kids are already getting so many confused messages from the culture. Do they need to be further confused about sexuality?
Stanley said that when she came to the school to sign out her children, she saw one boy wearing a pink mini-skirt that went right up to his behind. Had a girl been wearing the same dress, she said, it would have been a violation of the school dress code.
This is as wrong as wrong can get, she told IFI. When is enough enough?
Some male students stuffed their shirts to create mock breasts, according to Stanley and an employee of the school who opposed the special day and also spoke with IFI.
The school employee, who requested anonymity, said many students did not dress in opposite sex attire, but added that school administrators asked students to bring in a canned good for charity if they chose not to cross-dress.
Stanley said that after parents complained last year about a similar cross-dressing day, she was given the impression by Principal Charles Parks that it was a mistake and it wouldnt happen again. Then she received the letter announcing this years identical event.
I tried to call Parks but he did not return my call. Nor did Superintendent Richard Morgan .
IFI informed the American Family Association Radio Network about the story, and AFA Radio will air a report on Carrier Mills Opposite Sex Day this week. AFA reporter Jim Brown told me that Parks refused to answer questions about the cross-dressing day.
Even if the schools administrators did not set out to advance a gender-confusion agenda, we agree with Mrs. Stanley that telling youngsters to cross-dress--in school of all places--is just plain dumb. Kids are already steeped in false and unnatural sex/gender messages--with female pop stars kissing each other for kicks and transgender activists suing schools for the right of boys to come to class in a dress. In such an environment, the last thing we need is for schools to promote more confusion about the sexes and gender roles.
In addition, some homosexual men testify that in their youth that they practiced or were allowed to practice gender non-conforming behavior. Thats one reason why transvestites (cross-dressers, usually called "drag queens") are such a visible part of the homosexual male world.
If you still doubt that there is a VERY organized and aggressive transgender agenda that encourages the elimination of gender norms, visit Gender PACs website at www.gpac.org (WARNING: THIS IS AN ANTI-FAMILY WEBSITE THAT IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN) and get educated on the political/cultural forces that are working to promote aberrant sexual and gender behaviors in this nation.
And guess what? Gender PAC is extremely active with youth across the nation.

my school had something like this called "gender-bender day"
Most parents have no idea how liberals are indoctrinating their children from pre-school to college.

Oh goody!
Play or pay.
Good ole Democratic party "family values" being taught in school.
Lola, L. O. L. A., Lola...
"Crying Game" 101
There are quite a few people around here who think this is no big deal. Just some good old fashion fun. Not me.
To be fair to "most parents," they were likely indoctrinated themselves.
Just about every kid where I teach college wears jeans and a t-shirt. We wouldn't notice any difference. LOL

I can remember when we had "Powder-Puff Football" and the guys dressed up as hugely comical cheerleaders where outlandish costumed ta-tas were the real competition. This was way back in the seventies...it wasn't a drag-queen thing as much as a comic thing, like Curly of the Three Stooges, or Bugs Bunny, pretending to be female. But that was a more innocent time...these days such behavior would mean something else these days.
When I was in high school we had a week of different dress up days and other stuff. Like school colors day, red white and blue day, inside out, gender bender.
I didn't turn out gay or anything from it. I thought it was fun. I even had 4 days of stubble with my costume. I suppose those were happier, more innocent times.
Was I injured by it and I just didn't know it? Not somethign I ever thought aboubt before. But then again, when we have skits and pageants at church we have strict rules about not ever cross dressing. Not even for comedy purposes.

aw ~ come on....be a good sport
This is either a case of faggot educator running amok or an educator with a room temperature IQ.
My son went out on Halloween as Captain America. Picked out the costume himself. Brought a tear to my eye. Everything OK over here.
*Yawn*
Wow! When I was a kid, we just had Freaky Friday, where we wore our clothes backward.
Agree. These are the same tactics communist countries use to separate childrens ideology from their parents. With both parents working, the care of the children and instilling of values becomes less and less the responsibility of the parents and the children become "property". People are not taking this near seriously enough.
Depends on where they are from, and the values of their parents. Also, when many of us were children, one parent stayed home to raise the children (does not matter which), this is now relegated to liberal educators and liberal MSM.
My school had a day like this too. Also, I thought every school had a PowderPuff day.
It's a sad commentary on society when this is no longer innocent fun.
All that's left is grades contingent on performaing mandatory sex acts.
And the Dems can't figure out what went wrong on Nov 2nd....
Just to show how PC and secure in my manhood I am, I'm not only going to cross-dress, I'm going to come to work cross-dressed as a bull-dyke lesbian.
The main thrust, so to speak, of the homosexual, anarchy promoting, Karl Marx Das Kapital following, radical agenda to destroy the planet's male and female nuclear family model in many ways, but especially by weakening young people's natural gender identify and gender differentiation. They used politics back in the 1970's to get homosexuality called a normal variant, when the overwhelming body of psychiatric and hard science clearly has always shown otherwise. Their strategy is to wrap their family destroying package in a mom and apple pie wrapper, such as "tolerance building," that sounds good to people who are unable to think for themselves - which, sadly, is a large number of people - particularly educators, who have been taught this nonsense in their teacher training programs.
I think you are taking it too seriously. This is not some kind of liberal homo brainwahsing, it is just a dumb idea - meant to be fun - from the school.
I am most afraid of what the gay teachers will be thinking that day.
Most adult cross dressers are not homosexual.
I can just see how this is going to draw fire from both sides.
ping for later when kids aren't around the pc
Hey Professor -- That's an irrelevant and totally different tangent than a public school's engaging in the psychological indoctrination of suggesting teen males "feel-like-a-girl."
Get your kids out of the public indoctrination centers, folks. Until the NEA's spine is broken, this stuff will only get worse.
Looks like it's happening. Some schools in CA are closing their doors. Students are leaving in droves for charter and private schools.

Gender confusion is what is common to all these behaviors.
Making the decision to break the cross dressing taboo with an entire school population not otherwise so included promotes gender confusion in insecure young people, it doesn't lessen it and it doesn't leave it unchanged. Nothing good comes out of it as an institutionalized school activity; it's not simply good clean group fun, because by junior high and high school age in today's world the homosexual, transgendered, bisexual, etc community is already actively propagandizing young people that these various behaviors are choices worthy of the most "pride."
Deuteronomy 22:5 "A woman shall not wear man's clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman's clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD your God.
Matthew 18:6 ...but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. (See also Mark 9:42 & Luke 17:2 for parallel text)
Sorry, that should have read "an entire school population not otherwise so INCLINED."
Apparel
In Old Testament times the distinction between male and female attire was not very marked. The statute forbidding men to wear female apparel (Deuteronomy 22:5) referred especially to ornaments and head-dresses. Both men and women wore (1) an under garment or tunic, which was bound by a girdle. One who had only this tunic on was spoken of as "naked" (1 Samuel 19:24; Job 24:10; Isaiah 20:2). Those in high stations sometimes wore two tunics, the outer being called the "upper garment" (1 Samuel 15:27; 18:4; 24:5; Job 1:20).
Priests alone wore trousers. Both men and women wore turbans. Kings and nobles usually had a store of costly garments for festive occasions (Isaiah 3:22; Zechariah 3:4) and for presents (Genesis 45:22; Esther 4:4; 6:8,11; 1 Samuel 18:4; 2Kings 5:5; 10:22). Prophets and ascetics wore coarse garments (Isaiah 20:2; Zechariah 13:4; Matthew 3:4).

WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU EXPECT FROM A "BLUE" STATE?
