Around the time of the Vietnam War, the Democratic party was taken over by a left-liberal group that is not only statist in its outlook but wholly intolerant of the views of its opponents. "

EXACTLY! And that is about the time I registered as a Republican. I didn't like all the anti-American protests, which as it turns out, were organized by none other than sKerry and B Clintoooon.

And IF I had joined in on those protests, my parents would have KILLED ME.... Yet my mother voted for Clinton AND sKerry.

To Liberals I say --

When you look around and find everyone else to be strange, you should stop and realize that to everyone else, YOU are the strange one.

The Democrats now represent only a limited collection of interest groups clustered in or around the largest cities, and are represented to the world at large by an intellectual elite that is dismissive of differing views.

Bingo!

This liberal attitude is the true intolerance, and it is what will keep the Democratic party in a position of permanent minority until it can rid itself of this bigotry.

Expect Hillary to start attending church, regularly and publicly.

There was a time, as many have noted, when the Democratic party was the "party of the people."

I've always seen it as the party of slavery, elitists leading a dumbed-down rabble into a permanent indentured constituency.

"Around the time of the Vietnam War, the Democratic party was taken over by a left-liberal group that is not only statist in its outlook but wholly intolerant of the views of its opponents. That is one of the two Americas. It is likely that, when historians look into the partisanship and divisiveness of this era, they will find this factor at its root. Perhaps, inspired by the wreckage left around them by the GOP victory in 2004, Democrats of the center will be able to take back their party. If they do, however, their first chore will be to persuade the other America — the America of Sandy Johnson — that they are now willing to listen."

Ernest, a perfect spot to plug one of your favorite new books.

This is great, and you should modify it to become your tagline.

"Christaphobia would be a good label for what ails the democRATS."

I heard Nancy Pelosi quoting Scripture on the radio last Tuesday night. I damn-near drove into the ditch.

Pete nailed it.

Too many liberals get their views about Christianity from the NYT and Monty Python. As a Christian I am very aware of the many differing viewpoints within Christianity yet I have no trouble accepting that those views are "reasonable" and that thinking people can have different opinions.

You can disagree with someone without characterizing him as an ignorant moron. Really! It can be done.

But with a face like hers it would be hard to pretend that she is sincere. However, if she did have a true change of heart and spirit, that hard, know-it-all look of hers would be replaced with a humble gentleness and softness (better than botox).

Of course, she would be worthless as a democrat if she were to become a true believer.

I wish that were true, but I'm afraid it isn't.

Remember what Jesus said:

"For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."

and

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."

At first, I was surprised at the venom of the left towards Christians...but I guess hatred is the appropriate emotion. Same seems to be true of Islamists...hatred is the predominate thing.
