Images from the Battle of Fallujah (lest we forget or take it for granted)
Yahoo News Photos ^ | 11/12/04

Posted on 11/12/2004 11:27:25 AM PST by Wolfstar

This thread honors the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, and reminds us of why we here at home can go about our daily business in peace. Street-to-street is the toughest type of warfare. Air cover is being flown by pilots from the USS John F. Kennedy, as well as the U.S. Air Force from bases in the area.

That's a soldier of the 1st ID (big red one) not a Marine. If that is a woman it's possible that they are MP's following closely behind the assault forces to mop up wounded enemy and to secure EPW's. I think it's probably a Phillipino or other pacific islander and not a woman.

I think the average age of our troops there is about 22 years old.

Got back from Taji, Iraq in August after six months training the Iraqi Army. As I sit in my robe and slippers, working from home, I feel guilty looking at these pictures. God bless our fighting men.

Thanks for the link. I see the photo you mean, and won't post it either. However, I'll pick up a few more representative photos and post them here:

Thanks again. Just finished adding some that show captured enemy, some civilians, and one terrorist with an RPG who's looking to get himself splattered in a hurry.

Don't feel guilty. You've done your part. The thing to do here on the homefront is to help make sure we don't take what they're doing for granted.

Does the sign over the door say "The Blue Oyster"? I'm half expecting Lt. Mauser to be in there.

I think the Navy has always assigned corpsmen to Marines. I think the Marines don't grow their own because they never think they'll need them!

We never hear from reporters how stinky it must be over there...I have been to the Mid East in peacetime and it is really smelly, I cannot imagine how stinky it is with all that BO and dead bodies to boot!

LOL! The Marines are a tough bunch. Did you see some of Allah's warriors being led away none too gently by our Marines.

'I heard on the radio this morning that Navy corpsmen are serving with the Marines on the ground in Fallujah.'

I know this will be a repeat by the time it is posted, but Corpsmen ALWAYS fight alongside the Corps. Navy Corpsmen? All Corpsmen are USN. God Bless them all!

We used to give the corpsmen a pretty hard time in the Navy, but the fact of the matter is they are the ones who usually end up with the Medals of Honor.

You know, what struck me about Iraq from the first images we saw after our forces went in is how dirty it all looks. Nothing looks fresh and clean.

"And those pictures of our men carrying off a fallen comrade makes me want to cry, and I don't cry."

General George S. Patton jr. cried as he meet with soldiers badly disfigured etc.. To cry is to be human. We honor their service, and pray for their well being, and often inwardly cry as we view the fallen and crippled. Let us hope more and more Iraqi's of all religious sects start to realize American youth or dying in their streets for their future freedom.

In Alexandria, Egypt, there was rotting garbage everywhere.

damn I was afraid of this when we went in a year and a half ago, that if we could not zip it up after one month, we'd be stuck in crappy, messy guerilla warfare at close range with the islamofascists in a stinking backwater middle east country.

oh how I wish they had MOABed F-Town SIX MONTHS AGO, at the moment we got videos of US contractors barbuequed, mutilated and left hanging from F-Town's main bridge.

Hey, I'm for the troops all the way, but this is so late and too costly for my liking. our boys are way to precious for this crap.

Oddly, I think sanitation was far better when ancient Rome was in charge in places like Alexandria than it is today.

I could not agree with you more. How anyone can criticize a single one of these brave souls, or anything that they do, is beyond me. They deserve our undying gratitude and support.

What needs to be done to get these guys more money? The pay scale seems to be absolutely terrible for what they do.
I for one would be willing to pay more taxes for these guys to get more money.
