THE body of a woman in her 60s, with her legs and arms cut off and throat slit was found today in the city of Fallujah but it was unclear whether she was a foreigner or an Iraqi, marines said.
The discovery was made as the marines moved through the south of Fallujah, hunting out the remaining die-hard rebels after a week of fierce fighting to regain control of the city.
An AFP photographer embedded with the marines said the woman had grey hair, was wearing a blue dress and her face was completely disfigured.
The marines said she appeared to have been on the street for about two days.
Sweeps of rubble-strewn neighbourhoods in Fallujah have already uncovered a grisly underworld of hostage slaughterhouses, prisons and torture chambers as well as the corpses of Iraqis who had been executed, marines say.
Surviving hostages have also been found, but only one has been a foreigner - a Syrian driver who was abducted with two French journalists in August.
Two foreign women have been abducted in Iraq and remain missing.
British aid worker Margaret Hassan, 59, was snatched from her home in Baghdad last month and Teresa Borcz, 54, a Pole has also been kidnapped.
Both women also hold Iraqi citizenship after marrying Iraqis.
I'm guessing but it's probably Hassan. Yeah, big shocker.

U.S. military officials have said the city of Fallujah was almost under control of American forces but Iraqi resistance elements continued to fight, reports said on Sunday. U.S. sources indicated that resistance had not been entirely subdued and that it still could take several days of fighting to clear the final pockets.
Maj. Gen. Richard Natonski, commander of the 1st Marine Division, said Sunday that more than 1,200 "insurgents" have been killed since the operation was launched.
Overnight, U.S. planes attacked Fallujah and the nearby Amiriyah, and clashes broke out north of Baghdad.
The Fallujah raid killed some 30 American troops. Three marines were killed Saturday in a blast as they entered a booby-trapped building in the center of the city, while another 13 were injured in a firefight nearby, a marine officer said, according to AFP.
U.S. Marines on Sunday found the mutilated body of what they believed was a Western woman during the sweep in Fallujah. The body was lying in the street covered with a blood-soaked cloth.

Somehow, the abuses at Abu Ghraib do not seem quite as gruesome now, in fact, have paled into relative insignificance. And that was supposed to be the source of rage for the "freedom fighters" of Fallujah (as they were designated by Michael Moore, American Hatriot).
This is way past the point of "getting even".

Exactly! I don't know why they didn't send troops in immediately after the contractors were murdered! It should have been an IMMEDIATE response. Then they would have gotten zarqawi as well. Of course, our military would have had to have worked around the 'civilian' population (or, should I say the 'non-terrorist' population).

I think it's time to stop that. Bush is into his second term, and he really has nothing to lose by taking the gloves off. The lamestream media has vilified him from day one. Democrat politicians have worked feverishly to discredit Bush, and hamstring his every effort. He has walked through the shitstorm of negativity, and has come out walking tall.
Once he takes that new broom and finally cleans house, the howls of liberal outrage will be deafening. Imo, he finally has the green light to be more agressive in America's defense. Who cares how loud they howl? Bush has major support from Americans, not liberal weinies. The weinies can make good on their promises to emigrate to other countries.
We cannot depend on most other countries to help. Except for a handful of countries that refuse to be cowed, the rest of them are waving white flags and bending over, not to mention the UN. Completely horrible. Yes, they are evil. More importantly they are stuck in a time warp. They simply don't understand American resolve. We don't go out in droves like the hippies(for lack of a better word), and protest the war. This gives the terrorists a false impression of Americans and the West in general.

Now we're back, the Iraqi Army is in it, and it isn't just a U.S. punitive, "revenge" expedition.

Why are we surprised to find these things in Falluja. They are the same things these Iraquis have been doing to their own people for years. This is nothing new to the slime we are chasing. Why do you think they do these things, they enjoy them, they are fighting so they can continue doing what they enjoy. We are fighting a country full of the criminally insane.Psychiapathic killers in the guise of some sort of military. not just some nut like Manson locked up in a jail , but thousands of them who love what they are doing.
Since the terrorists don't seem to understand USA's ability to end the reign of terror, I submit this suggestion:
After Fallujah is taken, declare the area a "dead zone" and immediately withdraw all troops and then drop the big bomb and completely destroy the city, leaving a huge crater as an example of what is possible.
Then, through the propaganda machine, get out the message that in the future, rather than expending troops time, effort, and lives, whenever a city is overrun by enemies of the Iraqi government, the inhabitants will get a 2-day warning to evacuate the city -- then the city will be leveled. (All of this with the approval of the new Iraqi government, of course.)
The city would be bombed to the ground, all physical property would be destroyed, and the only human life lost would be because they CHOSE to stay in the targeted city.
In addition, some educational efforts should be made to publicize exactly how WWII was ended -- those graphics should be of shown far and wide. It will get their attention and capture their imagination. Apparently, some people in Middle East are not aware of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, nor of America's will and willingness to make the hard choices.
Am I being too harsh? I am sick of the sacrifice of our finest -- when there are more expedient ways.
War is hell and I'm sick of our attempts to make it a "semi-hell". Let's end it now, by air attacks. Enough of the ground-to-ground fighting.
