The Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children's Services is searching for a foster home for a 17-year-old white boy who is actively exploring gender and sexuality issues. He has good communication skills and loves to talk and cook.

The teen is an outgoing individual. Other qualities include being very friendly and open to many different lifestyles. He is attending a special-education program at a public high school. He loves cosmetology and loves to do hair and make-up...

This teen needs a structured home that can be open to his ongoing exploration of sexual identity and gender.

I sure feel sorry for this kid. At the same time, I sure feel sorry for us residents of Santa Clara County that have to read this crap in the SJ Mercury News. Do FReepers in other parts of the country see this sort of thing, too? It doesn't seem that long ago when foster services placed rather normal, but troubled, kids. This sort of "problem" seems too weird.

Weird or not...poor kid. He needs our prayers. Life is going to be hard for him, right or wrong.

Exploring his gender? WTF does that mean? Does he go to the mens room or the ladies room?

This is sick... it reads like a publicly funded auction for a child sex slave to me. They have taken the child abuse too far this time.

It means he ain't likely to go to the police when his new owner rapes him.

Drop him off at the local whore house, pick him up in a week. He'll be all straightened out by then.

When I was in eighth grade, before I had ever heard of the "trans-gendered" or knew that I might could get a "sex-change operation," we had to fill out a survey in school.

Question number 1: Sex. This is not a yes/no question. Male (A) or female (B).

Persistent troublemaker: I don't know.

Teacher: I can send you to the nurse so that you may find out.

Troublemaker: Oh, no. Male.

Teacher: Correct. Next question:

...

This teenager just needs help finding his own genitalia. He doesn't understand the difference between "male" and "female," the California educational system has failed him so.

Well, we all know who talks and cooks. Looks like his gender identity is already established.

A decent home would not allow ANY 17 year old teen to "explore his sexuality."

"Bye mom, I'm off to explore my sexuality!"

That's convenient.

What in the heck? Who would want to take responsibility for a boy who will be considered an adult in less than a year? This has got to either be a joke or some fag looking for a little action.
