The AP calls the insurgents "prisoners". They are/were not "prisoners". They were terrorists.

Am I a horrible person for hoping there's some terrorist attack or atrocity in Iraq tomorrow (as long as no U.S. soldiers are killed) that takes this damn story off the front pages?

I am?

I thought so.

I am horrified over this shooting. The insurgents are following the Geneva convention to the syllable, fighting the noble fight, and we pull a stunt like this.

So this is the big story now for the Bolshevik MSM.

No big story or film of woman with arms and legs cut off.

No picture of Van Gogh with his head nearly sliced off and a note impaled to his body.

How I detest these scum. May I get to see their downfall and disgrace.

I want to know why the USMC supply chain ran out of room-clearing grenades -- the proper and liberal use of which would render this entire media-created 'scandal' entirely moot.

The Geneva Convention decribes the rights that must be extended to the uniformed members of a legitimate military...and what can be done to those in combat who aren't.

"The U.S. military is investigating whether a Marine shot dead an unarmed, wounded insurgent during the battle for Falluja..."

The truth is that in this conflict you can never really know if a man is unarmed.

These terrorists and insurgents wear layers of robes that have hidden many a deadly bomb over the years. Perhaps this Marine may himself have lost friends to this treacherous brand of warfare. Our forces in Iraq are not fighting conventional forces and to try to fight them with conventional rules jeapordizes the lives of our fighting men.

If today's media/leftists have such a difficult time seeing actual terrorists - many of whom fake their deaths only to surprise our men with gunfire &/or bombs - get shot they never would've been able to handle seeing what our Marines did to Japanese soldiers during the island-hopping years ('42 - '45). .......let alone the firebombing of Tokyo, Hamburg, and Dresden.

PC wars kill.

What I noticed - We don't hear what the terrorist are doing until something like this happens. What is missing in the media -

I guess those terrorist see nothing wrong with waving a white flag - then fighting - or faking death - then trying to kill someone who passes them - or setting traps on dead bodies - all not mentioned by the investigating forces over there - it's only when one on the U.S. side does something that the media goes wild -

The major media is a disgrace -

2) feigning injury or death in order to continue killing our soldiers
3) enaging in combat while in a house of worship- Illegal!
4) possibly a foreign national with no authority or protection under the Geneva Convention
5)just prior to this alleged shooting terrorists used the illegal tactic of wiring dead bodies with I.E. D. - at that specific point in the conflict, all rules of engagement were thrown out the freaking window!

They are not prisoners until they are cuffed and secure. The Marine didn't know if this guy was pretending to be dead in order to trigger a bomb or not.

Since the Marine told them to surrender (not shown on tape) and they refused, the Marine acted justly.

This is war folks.

I sent Rush Limbaugh an e-mail regarding Chris Matthews coverage of this:

Rush: Matthews’s has really crossed the line in regard to his reporting of the Marine shooting the Iraqi terrorist in the Mosque. He gave the Marine the benefit of the doubt for about 20 seconds, and then basically labeled him a war criminal. He had some air force ex officer concur. I believe that the Marine thought that the Terrorist was playing dead. If you listen to the audio of the report the Marine thinks the terrorist is playing dead. He also looked covered to me. From past experience this means either the terrorist is strap with bombs or is hiding a gun, grenade. Rush, maybe Matthews is doing this to get attention. However, again, he has crossed the line. You need to HAMMER this Quisling.

The human rights organization Amnesty International raised concerns about violations of the rules of war last week, after a British news program broadcast video of what it said was the killing of another wounded insurgent by U.S. troops.

Amnesty also noted reports that insurgents have used mosques as fighting positions, and in one incident appear to have used a white flag to lure Marines into an ambush.

ai actually blamed one on the terrorists! of course, nothing will ever come of this because the terrorists are not aligned with any state (hahaha).

Knowing what teensy info that I know after seeing the tape on Hannity and What's-his-name, this young and tired Marine may very possibly have seen a movement or even heard a noise, anything that conveyed a threat signal for him and his buddies.

If MSM takes the terrorist's side on this (he wasn't a prisoner) then they lose even more public trust.

Makes you kind of mad that the media is being so critical of the way our military fights its battles, when you have this kind of stuff going on. Kick the media out. Let our military do its job and get them back home.

Don't agree. O'REILLY had a "Rules Of War" expert on who justified easily what the Marine did. I've been through this training. He wasn't an "unarmed, wounded, prisoner". He was playing possum in a combat situation, faking that he was dead, so he could kill Marines. Thank God CNN was on Guadalcanal in 1942. Semper Fidelis!!

So MSM wants to show video of a US Marine defending himself and his brothers from booby trapped bodies and enemies faking their death?

Well then let's start viewing these enemies beheading civilians they deem dangerous and worthy of slaughter. Fair and balanced, yes?

It might be time for the embeds to go back to the safety of the rear and let our Marines and Soldiers do their job. This is too ridiculous, it's wasting time, and taking a trigger puller away from the front. The inquiry is using up Officers and Marines who would otherwise be concentrating on the main effort.

I foresee the USMC having their own video feeds (secure and wireless) that will be edited by HQ for MSM journalist who don't know the first thing about defending themselves much less understanding the nature of deadly combat.

I hope and expect US Military Vets to tell the MSM to shove this story as far up there well-intentioned sphincter holes as possible.

During WWII the GI's used to shoot wounded Japanese all the time because of instances where they were hiding grenades. Now we are going to crucify a GI because of a similar situation. I can already see the media run with this story with glee. No doubt the left will tie it to Donald Rumsfeld or Al Gonzalez within the week.

Hey Liberal scum reporter ... what's the difference between what happened here to this combat weary Marine in the middle of Falluja, and what your super (WAR HERO) Kerry did to that wounded VC he saw fleeing that one-man ambush ??

Oh yeah ... Kerry-the-FRAUD was a rich little Ivy League elitist with a Kennedy-connection I'm certain he name-dropped on everyone ... and he cleverly found a way to pump his resume by writing himself up for a bunch of medals he didn't deserve.

EVERY swingin-Richard in my platoon had insect bites a hell of alot worse than any wound he ever claimed.

GO Swift-Vets & ex-POW's !!! And keep after his sorry-a$$'d records. Drag that Northeast-Liberal PHONY all the way out into the sunshine.

1) non uniformed combatant- Illegal!

Correct.

2) feigning injury or death in order to continue killing our soldiers

Also illegal.

3) enaging in combat while in a house of worship- Illegal!

Correct.

4) possibly a foreign national with no authority or protection under the Geneva Convention

Unlawful combatant and/or a spy. Neither one is a desirable status under the GC.

5)just prior to this alleged shooting terrorists used the illegal tactic of wiring dead bodies with I.E. D. - at that specific point in the conflict, all rules of engagement were thrown out the freaking window!

Wrong. Our rules of engagement are never thrown out the window. The military is very explicit with everyone serving in that region: If you break the law, you will be punished. The actions of the enemy will often violate the laws of land warfare, but our policy is strict adherence. I realize that's not fair, but that's how it is.

I didn't see their show tonight. What was their commentary?

I think that they had the correct approach. Ollie North was the guest, and they collectively agreed that they needed to reserve judgment until the facts are known; and, that there would be a thorough investigation to accomplish just that.

Col. North did allow that worst case, it could be a serious charge against the young Marine. I'm hoping for extenuating circumstances, as are most of us here.
