Right-Wing Wins Take Wind Out of Talk-Show Hosts

Their guy just won reelection by 3.5 million votes.

Their party strengthened its majority in the House, in the Senate and in statehouses, with the Supreme Court probably soon to follow. "Moral values" -- their kind of stuff -- are très chic. This could be a disaster for the nation's right-wing talk-show hosts.
Election Day was a triumph for conservatism, but it may have been a mixed blessing for the people who yak about it on TV and radio. Conservative talk, by far the most popular kind on the airwaves, has always traded on an undercurrent of grievance, a sense of being the underdog against the implacable, oppressive forces of liberal "elitism." The farther conservatives were from power, the better the Us-vs.-Them model worked. The right-wing media matured and prospered under Democrat Bill Clinton, whose two terms in office were a gift that kept on giving to the Limbaughs, G. Gordons, Savages and lesser lights of the electronic right. continue...

Right-Wing Wins Take Wind Out of Talk-Show Hosts

Only in their dreams. The MSM will react to this setback by becomeing more partisan and by spewing more lies. And the remaining Dem politicians will resort to even more blatant attempts at vote fraud. This will provide ample fodder for talk-radio hosts and ample motiviation for their listeners.

I have no fear that the left will run out of idiocies to react to.

Like Rush says, the liberals basically give him the material to work with, and they are even more hysterical when they are out of power.

How can people so consistently write such drivel, especially since Rush has made it a point to note that his biggest growth came during the REAGAN and BUSH years.

There is plenty of stuff to talk about, and I, for one, was getting sick of all John Kerry all the time.

As long as there is a Washington Post, New York Times, ABC, CBS, LA Times, CNN....Rush will always have a full time job fighting all the BS they sling.

By this logic, left-wing talkies should have boomed the past four years and be golden now...so where are they?

Clueless. The new media is the source of information for anyone who isn't interested in what the democrat party hacks have to say in the democrat media (such as the WaPo).

Suuuuure it does. They've been saying Limbaugh was finished for years. There are always left wingnuts out there. As Limbaugh says, they get more entertaining when they're not in power, because they just can't believe they're not in power. They get more shrill, more extreme, and they do more things worth talking about.

I doubt you'll see a dropoff in listeners, any more than you would typically see after an election. Besides, even if there were little to talk about, lunatics like Savage would simply turn on other talk show hosts or on the administration and try to make a name for themselves that way (oh, did I type that out loud>) :-)

The Washington Post has no need to worry about right-wing talk radio, because when "their guys" continue to filibuster Bush's well-qualified judicial nominees and stand in the way of reform that Americans want, there will be plenty of stuff for people to continue to talk about.

Don't worry, they'll pound the election results into their listeners heads anyway...and just make the split in our country bigger and bigger.

If it wasn't for their constant reinforcement of "us vs them"...they'd be out of work.

This is a story and not an editorial? Unbelieveable! It's even written in a chatty style that is more suited for Ladies' Home Journal than the Washington Post.
