"Well, aren't you just a bundle of joy."

The Abu Ghraib prison 'scandal' is what I cite as precedent. The so-called torture exemplifies non-violent psychological pre-interrogation conditioning that has been used with ample success by the Saudi and Kuwaiti militaries. The soldiers who 'tortured' the naked Iraqis were following orders as they initially said they were and the media blew it up.

Now the chain of command has sold them out for political expediency.

If Bush does not pressure the military to hang this Marine out to dry I'll be impressed.

I'd really, really be impressed if Bush were to give the whole thing a "So what?" and get on with the war.

But I'm so used to Republicans worrying themselves into a dither over what liberals think of them that I would put money on this kid getting court martialed.

Someday the GOP will start to act like they actually run the country. Let me know when that happens, okay?

The Marines should send embedded reporters to lead their patrols or act as point.

The "Imbeds" should be the stick-men. You know, carry a stick and poke the presumed dead Muzzy's in the eye. If the Muzzy yells "ouch", or blows up, he's not dead and neither is a marine. The stick-man has satisfied his "Right to Know".

Basically, we need to persuade the chain of command and the politicians that there will be more trouble if they throw him to the wolves than if they don't.

Excellent point. Easier said than done. Needs deliberate patience and perseverance to prosecute such a tactic. Count me in.

...This young soldier, from what I understand, lost buddies when they were booby-trapped under the same circumstances and he was shot in the face just a day or two earlier...

If it was a cop over here under those circumstances he'd be put on leave, right? For the very reason that when you've just been shot by the bad guy you're going to be in no mood whatsoever to get shot again or blown up or see any of your comrades shot or blown up.

The Marines ought to read these terrorists their rights, starting with "you have the right to be dead, you have the right to remain dead, you have the right to an attorney to assure you are truly dead, etc."

Heard a talking head White House correspondent talk about this today. The White House apparently thinks it's no big deal. It's only the media that is obsessing over it.

Nope, not anymore.

Did afghanistan and Iraq... Squad leader in the 101st.

Got injured and medically retired.

I had a similar kill in Afghanistan.

THe military asked me what happened, I told them, they said ok... they did damage control, and I went back into the fight.

Nothing will happen, trust me

Exactly! That's where the mindset of the Global Infested Liberals is today. In their toy box world there is no difference between Andy Taylor and G.I. Joe except the color of their uniforms. It is a w--a--r....filled with combatants (people who are doing their very best to kill you) who do not respect any form of military code or conduct and believe it is an absolute honor to die taking as many of you and your friends with them as possible. The soldier was doing a soldier's job, give him his purple heart, give him a promotion and get the smell out of his way.

That a soldier might hesitate to do his job because he might be on film is a sick and sorry thought which we should in no way support!

He has not been charged. He will not be charged. He did nothing wrong and the military is hopefully just trying to find a politically correct way of saying so.

What should happen and what does happen with military brass is frequently two widely differing outcomes pal. Ask the POW families. Military brass will often "cop out" to whatever is politically expedient.

This is amazing! The lamestream media thinks it's "too controversial" to show what Islamic terrorists actually do, but then make a big fuss over an American Marine shooting a wounded terrorist who might have had a remote control in his hand.

The worst the Marine is guilty of is panicking in the heat of the moment.

I think a silver star would be appropriate.

After all Kerry got one for shooting a kid in a breechcloth and no one saw him do that. Millions saw this guy.

All sarchasm aside, the Jarhead did what he was trained to do. He may not have made the appropriate choice when analyzed in the comfort of ones computer chair, but he made the only decision possible given the circustances and the time available to make a decision.

The libs tend to gloss over the fact that this guy was, at least in the recent past, shooting at our guys from the "sanctity" of the mosque. Too bad they didn't just run an Abrams through the mosque when it was first used as a firing position. Then there'd be no problem for this young Marine.

You forgot to mention that Michael Savage is a whack-job freak.

I guess that means you won't be contributing?

How long till the trial lawyers try to organize a class action of Iraqi "insurgents" to sue in a U.S. court for damages for mistreatment at the hands of the U.S. Marines?
