I read somewhere that CNN had a banner at the bottom of the screen that said "movin' on up" ala that television show about a black man; I've forgotten the name of the show.

The Jeffersons?
This is something the right could never get away with, and should not get away with. Wonder if we'll see the Clarence Thomas hearings again when it's time for Dr. Rice to be confirmed in the Senate.

It was the Jefferson's. About a black family digging their self's out of the poverty.

"The Jeffersons" - a spinoff of "All In The Family."
Shalom.

You are referring to the popular 70's and 80's sitcom "The Jeffersons" starring Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford. The lyrics are thus:
Well we're Movin' on Up!
Movin' on Up!
To the east side!
Movin' on Up!
To a dee-luxe apartment in the sky, We're movin' on up!
Movin' on Up!
To the east side!
Movin' on Up!
We've finally got a piece of the pie!
Fish don't fry in the kitchen,
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin'
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat!
As long as we live,
It's you and me, baby!
There ain't nothin' wrong with that!
Hooray, We're Movin' on Up!
Movin' on Up!
To the east side!
Movin' on Up!
To a dee-luxe apartment in the sky! We're Movin' on Up!
Movin' on Up!
To the east side!
Movin' on Up!
We've finally got a piece of the pie!
