The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

"We should have secured the Mexican border."

That could be the pitiful lament we hear from negligent U.S. officials if Al Qaeda pulls off an attack on the United States using weapons of mass destruction smuggled across our southern frontier.

Were that horrendous event to happen, leaders in the administration and Congress would be justly hit with the same question that was perhaps unjustly cast at them and their predecessors after the unprecedented Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks: Why didn't they connect the dots?

Yes, you are right and this is where I started looking for the connection between communism and the terrorist, as the goals are the same.

The proof is on the communist sites, and in the news broadcasts.

The proof is in the "communist manifesto 1963" as read in to the Congressional records.

Donna was mad, she as a rule has to stay out of the local politics, as she is a Denver Police, lieutenant.

She is good and makes sense, for years she had a regular spot, now she works fill-in.

It does appear that there is someone, "fixing" those bolts, there is no way that all these falling parts of airplanes is normal.

Airplanes are not the only dangerous items with falling parts.

In Las Vegas, they built a fancy high speed train, I think it is in the downtown area.(I think it is elevated).

It opened and in a matter of days, was shut down, something had fallen off it and hit a car.

Shut it down, tightened the bolts and tried it again, same
thing, another part of it fell off.

I first heard of it on Labor Day weekend, that is a money making time in Las Vegas, and the train was down.

Last week, I heard the locals talking on KDWN Radio, they said that every time the train is tested, something falls off. It is still shut down, unless it has started in the last week.

On the KDWN traffic reports this morning, several streets were shut down, as it was a live stand off with the police, the 'young man', was in an apartment building and said he had a bomb.

CINCINNATI -- Tri-state police are alerting citizens of a new terror warning, WLWT News 5's Juliette Vara reported.

While the alert level remains at elevated, Cincinnati police chief and Hamilton County sheriff sent a letter to local media asking for help to alert citizens that now is the most crucial time to fight terrorism.

Some citizens have questioned why the Tri-state is at risk for an attack, but authorities said the Midwest could be a larger target than New York City or Washington D.C.

"It's harder for them (terrorists) to assault (hard) targets," said Steve Barnett, of the Hamilton County Sheriff's office. "Possibly, they would go after a soft target."

According to experts, the Tri-state is full of potential targets like financial buildings, busy streets and crowded buses, Vara reported.

"There is not hard evidence that Cincinnati is a target, but we don't want people to get lazy," Barnett said.

Authorities said the reason the alert was issued is because 2004 is an election year.

Officials are asking citizens to be aware of suspicious activity like people loitering in certain areas and videotaping, sketching or photographing certain locations or buildings.

Citizens should also be aware of random bags or cars left unattended.

Some officials urge residents to be on guard because terrorism can happen anywhere.

"People don't think it'll happen in a small community, but that's the best place to hide," said Ed Apfel, of Neighborhood Watch.

While recognizing suspicious activity is the first step, the most important thing is to report the person to police. Officials urge citizens to call authorities to report anything out of the ordinary.

I sent off a lovely religious Christmas card with a letter to the mayor today. Hoping many around the country join in.

I don't think it will wake him up, there was some article on one of the threads about how "progressive" he has been since before he was elected. But this will draw attention to the fight to take Christmas back.

Local newspaper reports described the army's selling of weapons to rebels as "an open secret" and "common knowledge". General Narciso Abaya, the chief of staff of the Philippine armed forces, conceded that there is "graft and corruption at all levels". And the police have admitted that al-Ghozi couldn't have escaped from his cell without help from someone on the inside. Most significant, Victor Corpus, the chief of army intelligence, resigned, though he denies any role in the Davao bombings.

These suspicions stem from a bizarre incident on May 16, 2002, in Davao. Michael Meiring, a US citizen, allegedly detonated explosives in his hotel room, injuring himself badly. While recovering in hospital, Meiring was whisked away by two men and flown to the US. Local officials have demanded that Meiring return to face charges, to little effect. Business World, a Philippine newspaper, has published articles openly accusing Meiring of being a CIA agent involved in covert operations "to justify the stationing of American troops and bases in Mindanao".

According to Abdul Hakim Murad, Yousef got an idea for crashing a plane into the CIA from Murad while at the apartments. According to Murad, Yousef replied, "OK, we will think about it," before heading off with Khalid Shaikh to Puerto Galera for scuba diving.At the time, Khalid Sheik Mohammed was staying at a lavish apartment across the street from a person that would become the President of the Philippines. . .

Phase two would have involved Abdul Hakim Murad either renting, buying, or hijacking a small airplane, preferably a Cessna. The airplane would be filled with explosives. He would then crash it into the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Murad had been trained as a pilot in North Carolina, and was slated to be a suicide pilot. Murad probably created this version of the plan.

There were alternate plans to hijack a 12th commercial airliner and use that instead of the small aircraft, probably due to the Manila cell's growing frustration with explosives. Testing explosives in a house or apartment is dangerous, and it can easily give away a militant plot. Khalid Sheik Mohammed probably made the alternate plan.

A report from the Philippines to the United States on January 20, 1995 stated, "What the subject has in his mind is that he will board any American commercial aircraft pretending to be an ordinary passenger. Then he will hijack [the] said aircraft, control its cockpit and dive it at the CIA headquarters."

Another plot the men were cooking up would have involved hijacking of more airplanes. The Sears Tower (Chicago, Illinois), The Pentagon (Arlington, Virginia, the Washington Capitol (Washington, DC), the White House (Washington, DC), the Transamerica Tower (San Francisco, California), and the World Trade Center (New York, New York) would be the likely targets.

The plot was abandoned after an apartment fire occurred during the night in Manila, Philippines on Friday, January 6, 1995.The fire occurred before the Pope, John Paul II, was scheduled to visit the Philippines on January 12. Also, a typhoon had hit Manila not that long ago before the fire. The incident took place at six-story Doña Josefa apartments

According to my intelligence sources in the Far East, the outlying renegade provinces of Indonesia (Aceh, for example) and the Philippines (where al Qaeda affiliate Abu Sayyaf rules) are infested with senior al Qaeda leaders. Each one is financially empowered to purchase North Korea's plutonium the moment it is reprocessed. Ayman Zawahiri, al Qaeda's number two, was reportedly in Indonesia last September, a month before the Bali bomb blast that killed 200 mostly Australian tourists. He could easily be there again. We also know from published--and so far undisputed--reports that from February 2000 until July 2002, eight senior Pakistani nuclear scientists left their country without obtaining the required No Objection Certificates needed for travel abroad. They remain unaccounted for and at least some are reported to have traveled to Australia and Indonesia. In a worst case scenario, al Qaeda could construct a crude but effective nuclear device in weeks, if not a month, from Hezbollah C4, North Korean plutonium, and a little nuclear expertise from disaffected Pakistani scientists.

N.Korea suspected of supplying terrorists  

SEOUL, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- The chief of U.S. forces in South Korea said Friday he is concerned that North Korea may sell its weapons-grade plutonium to international terrorists."An additional concern the international community shares is that North Korea, in its desire for hard currency, would sell weapons-grade plutonium to some terrorist organizations," Gen. Leon J. LaPorte told a forum in Seoul. "And that would be disastrous to the world."The CIA estimates that North Korea already has developed one or two atomic bombs and has enough weapons-grade plutonium to make several more. Weapons sales are a major source of revenue for the cash-strapped North, South Korean defense officials have said."Clearly, they have an opportunity to harvest plutonium from the enrichment rods," LaPorte said. "North Korea is a known proliferator of missiles, missile technology and other military hardware."The United States reportedly has designated an overseas transfer of nuclear materials by North Korea as a "red line" that could warrant the use of force.

CIA confirms N. Korea nuclear test threat (snip)

Washington, DC, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency has confirmed North Korea threatened to test its long-range nuclear weapons, the Kyodo news agency said Wednesday.

The unclassified portion of the semiannual report to Congress identifies a full range of countries and groups of proliferation concerns, including China, Iran and the al-Qaida network.

"In late April 2003 during trilateral talks in Beijing, North Korea privately threatened to 'transfer' or 'demonstrate' its nuclear weapons," the report said.
