The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Connect these dots, now

"We should have secured the Mexican border."

That could be the pitiful lament we hear from negligent U.S. officials if Al Qaeda pulls off an attack on the United States using weapons of mass destruction smuggled across our southern frontier.

Were that horrendous event to happen, leaders in the administration and Congress would be justly hit with the same question that was perhaps unjustly cast at them and their predecessors after the unprecedented Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks: Why didn't they connect the dots?

TEN RULES...

Rules 4, 9 nearly killed me laughing.

I have a 13-yr old daughter. I had tears running down my face, laughing before I finished. Too funny.

Don't have to worry though. She has a Black Belt in TKD from a 7-time North Korean National Champion, and I'm proud to say that she shoots a 2-in group at 25yds.

Thanks, Ex

Thanks, Velveeta, for always posting the latest from Neosgirl. Here's a couple of straggler photos from that same Filipino site you listed:

Also, there's a lot of very recent links to download inside these sites with some mentioning Zarqawi and Fallujah:

Unfortunately, I'm unable to up or download anything, so I have no idea if they're even of interest.

Re: Mall security getting anti-terror training

"Chagnon's students are also told to watch for people wearing oversized clothes, and are instructed to make eye contact with shoppers and look for either extremely focused people or those who won't return a look. Another tip-off: Terrorists often ritualistically shave their bodies before carrying out a suicide bombing, he says."

But, they forgot to mention the perfume - that, too, could be a tip-off.

TV station for Muslims in English opens in U.S.

By Agence France Presse (AFP)
Saturday, December 04, 2004

dailystar.com

BUFFALO, New York: The first English-language cable television channel aimed at U.S. and Canadian Muslims is set to launch, its chairman said Monday, seeking to show positive images of the fast-growing community and to give America a realistic glimpse into Islamic life.

"It was my wife's idea. She asked me to go and do it," said Muzzammil Hassan, a Pakistani-born ex-banker with no prior television industry experience whose Bridges TV hits U.S. airwaves Tuesday. Its Canadian launch will follow soon, he said. Hassan, 40, recalled that on a November 2001 road trip between Buffalo and Detroit, Michigan - home to the largest U.S. Muslim community - he and his wife, who was then pregnant, listened to a radio program that took a sharp, derogatory tone against Muslims.

It was not the first time they had heard this tone in the post-September 11 U.S. media. "She was offended by it. And she was seven months pregnant. So she felt that she didn't want her kids growing up here without feeling strong about their identity both as an American and as a Muslim," Hassan said. "So she said, 'Why don't you do it?'" Hassan, who lives outside Buffalo, where he was a banker and earned an MBA in nearby Rochester, made a business plan and went about courting investors.

When they looked at the demographics for the estimated seven million U.S. Muslims - which show U.S. Muslims' average annual income 11,000 dollars above the US average, and a growth rate of 6.2 percent a year, far outpacing the general population growth of under one percent - many were sold. Bullish backers have invested five to 10 million dollars already, The Buffalo News reported.

"When we did our market research, what people told us was that there are foreign-language channels available in the U.S., but they cater to their foreign-born parents and not their American children," said Hassan, CEO of Bridges TV. "Bridges TV is trying to fill that gap," he said. Described as a "lifestyle" channel, the network now has about 20 employees and is available across the United States on Globecast satellite and on broadband, Hassan said. The channel also has signed a carriage affiliation with Comcast, the top U.S. cable service, with 22 million subscribers. It will be available in Detroit on Comcast in January, Hassan added.

Programming ranges from Koranic and Islamic religious content to news, documentaries, soap operas and shows geared toward women and children, in a bid to reflect many facets of life.

Hassan has high hopes for the news programming, but there will also be lighter fare, such as "Allah Made Me Funny," which spotlights a Muslim comedy tour.

And the new network will also offer a window on Muslim life "for mainstream Americans who want to better understand who Muslims are," Hassan said.

Bridges TV will air Call to Prayer (Adhan) five times a day, weekly Friday prayers and possibly Taraweeh in Ramadan from various mosques and Muslim Community Centers in North America.
