Hillary Warns GOP: 'Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely'

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton warned Thursday that she already sees signs of corruption with Republicans firmly in control of the House, the Senate and the White House.

"You know, absolute power corrupts absolutely," Clinton told CNN's "American Morning."

Dropping the bipartisan demeanor she'd adopted for the opening of her husband's presidential library, Clinton said, "I think that we have an administration and Republican leadership that, you know, is very powerful. And power should be handled carefully in a democracy."

Clinton complained that when Republicans were in the minority, "they certainly wanted to apply the harshest of rules to Democratic leaders for so many years."

While calling for a political "truce to all of this back and forth," she added, "let's have rules that apply to everybody."

Perhaps the most accurate thing she's ever said.

Will we finally become the party of Reagan, or

continue our decent into the party of quasi-socialist "government compassion"?

Can't be absolute. Senator Clinton still has 950 stolen FBI files
ignored by the DOJ. [Isn't that special?]

915 Private FBI files.

Take the BEAM out of your eye Hillary before you lecture anyone about an imagined speck in theirs.

I beg to differ, but I don't think it was power that corrupted Hillary-she'd be just as vile clerking a graveyard shift in a gas'n go.

Hillary! and Hubby and the 'Rats had absolute control of the US government for the first two years of the Clinton presidency. It wasn't a problem for her then. I guess it's only a concern when she's on the outside looking in.

Clinton complained that when Republicans were in the minority, "they certainly wanted to apply the harshest of rules to Democratic leaders for so many years."

Oh, sure, maybe in your liberal fantasyworld where any conniving liberal obstructionism has to be justified by claiming falsely that Republicans are so much worse. Liberals are excellent at feeling justified at doing anything evil in order to achieve their ends. Republicans throughout the '70s went along with so many liberal proposals that it completely upset traditional checks and balances (see the War Powers Act for starters, babe).

I give her credit for saying what liberals really believe, though. They really think that no skullduggery is too low for them to engage in because basically they are fighting Evil. I've seen that attitude over and over from them, the ends justify the means and all that. At least Hillary doesn't try to hide it.

Hillary once again trading upon the victims of our dumbed-down education system and trying to revise the tenets of our founding principles as she did with the Electoral College after 2000. So I guess I have to set her straight.

This comment about absolute power was put forth in objection to those systems of government that place governing control in the hands of royalty or tyranny, that place power in the hands of one or a few people. The 'absolute' descriptor referred to those who wield control over what our Founding Fathers divided into the three functions of government (the executive, the legislative, and the judiciary).

The separation of powers prevents one or a few people from gaining too much control over the people.

That the people elect to both houses and the executive members from the same party does not dissolve our tripartite form of government, each branch of which is still constrained by the Constitution. This system that combines the separation of powers with the Constitution and with state sovereignty thwarts any politician's attempt to gain absolute power.

It is the will of the people, Hillary. Suck it up.

I guess that means that the Right Wing has "arrived," and there's no longer a need for a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
