His cartoon is such a blatant stereotype that it is best ignored. If you respond to his nonsense with any intensity, he will say "told you so." It is a self fulfilling prophecy.
The best way to deal with a fool is to disregard him.

If I could draw something here, I'd draw the Republican senators standing in a circle around Specter - each Republican senator shooting himself in the foot while licking Specter's face with wet slobber.
Their voting for Specter isn't winning them future votes, that's for certain.

Classic lawer tactic: confuse and overwhelm your opponent with all sorts of false charges, and when he response, accuse him of the very things you are doing.
