LONDON (AFP) A British schoolteacher, attempting to motivate her pupils into making the most of each day, told them a meteorite was about to smash into the Earth and that they should all return home to say goodbye to their families, a report said.
Gee, now I don't feel so bad about not funding my IRA this year.
This sort of thing never happened before dry-erase marker boards became standard. All the teachers are high on the fumes from these markers, and it makes them act goofy.

C'mon, this is funny. What it really says is how the media can take a silk purse and make it into a whole pig. My take is on this is the teacher was exasperated by the inattention of her students to what she was trying to get across and was doing a reality check to even see if they were listening. She probably had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing when some of these kids started freaking out.
Ah, the benefits of a public education, here and in the U.K. Once this blows over (and I'd feel pretty stupid as a parent making noises to the press about my kid being 'traumatized', but hey, that's just me), the teacher is going to have some rueful laughs with the rest of the staff in the Teacher's Lounge.
Of course, she probably would've been safer to say that America is the biggest danger to the world due to their inbreeding and poor hygiene and that Israelies are the hybrid offspring of pigs and monkeys. That doesn't seem to get the press going very much.

And of course right after she said that she probably met with her comrades to do their daily protest against Bush and Blair scaring people with terror alerts.
And now they're 13-year-olds who will never believe another word this jerk says.
