Hillary Clinton Shedding Polarizing Image

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Recent polls show the public's image of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., gradually morphing from sharply controversial First Lady to centrist, constituent-minded senator. Although still a polarizing figure, the first-term legislator could use the makeover to position herself for a White House run in 2008. Political strategists say Clinton has impressed Senate colleagues and constituents by working on New York issues while taking moderate or conservative stances on controversies such as the war in Iraq. "A majority feel positive toward her," said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. "She's being seen as being more effective and sticking to her job. She's managed to shape her role in a way that's more acceptable. She's in a transition."

I don't agree with ANY of Hillary's views....and cannot stand the thought of "those people" returning to the White House.
=====
I agree -- Hillary would be an unsurmountable Marxist disaster for America. Putting Bonnie and Clyde, which is what it would amount to, back in the White House...arrrghh...perish the thought -- did this country NOT LEARN ITS LESSON BEFORE??

The Repubs need someone that is strong and has a track record and credentials -- that alone would beat Hillary, beyond the nornal Yellow Dog Dem vote...she really will be easy to beat by the right person...because all you have to do is beat the Yellow Dog vote!!

How appropriate. Slick Willy changed from a conservative, pro-life governor in Arkansas to a liberal, pro-choice presidential candidate.

We must defeat her in 06.

Her gang floated the idea of not running in 06 so that she could focus on the presidency. That is pure bull. They floated the idea in case she loses, a pre-spin technique because they know if she loses in 06, she has no shot in 08. They'll argue, "she didn't want to win the senate seat. She wanted to focus on the presidency."

Crush Hillary.

Don't be so foolish. If a pro-choice candidate like Rudy runs... many on the right will sit out the election.

That would make it very possible for someone on the left to win.

I would prefer to see Rudy take Hillary on in '06.

there is a big difference between an ACTIVE pro-choice candidate, and someone who would simply maintain the status quo regarding abortion. let's face it, we elected Reagan to two terms, Bush 41 once, Bush 43 2 times, and added a republican congress since 1994 - the ball on abortion has moved only slightly to the right on things like partial birth and parental notification. no big changes.

in light of that, what sense does it make to nominate an unkonwn purist on abortion, and risk electing Hillary, who we all know full well will be ACTIVELY pro-abortion.

again, our basic problem is that we don't have a well known candidate for 2008, that meets everyone's conservative credentials.
