I saw a video of this on Fox News this morning. Fox reported the agent as Nick Trotta. I've seen him in many photos and videos with the President. Thank God we have a leader with a set of balls. Kerry would have left the guy there and gone inside doing his Confucius bow.

I knew a fella who was SS for Bill Clinton. He said that the SS hated working for Bill. They had to grin and bare it.

Well, I imagine the female SS probably did have to grin and bare it for Clinton.

This is a complete breakdown to the security of the President. Why didn't other secret service agents rush to the aid of the President instead of rushing to the side of #1 agent? The Secret Service protection of the President needs a complete review. To allow them to get pushed around by a bunch of banana republic thugs is a disgrace.

It would have turned into an international mess. The SS agent would probably linger in a Chilean jail while diplomacy took its route or some such silliness.

This is a very frightening scene. Imagine if another countries secret service conspired to assassinate our president. This would likely be the begining sequence to that plot.

Agreed. The Secret Service and President GW shouldn't do this again because it draws the POTUS out of the script and potentially to a less secure area.

The question arises: WHY would the stop Secret Service agents from following him? One would think that all security arrangements would have been taken care of prior to the meeting.

Methinks this is an overzealous (perhaps by personal choice) guard or guards.

Something just doesn't sit right with me over this.

As for the actions of the President, someone said it in an earlier post - - -He DA MAN!!

Your post and this thread bring to mind a consistent theme that is shown by our Commander in Chief.

My brothers in the Marine Corps will tell you that "the troops eat first." That is their way of expressing the genuine respect that honestly goes both up and down the chain of command.

Everything that this man does in relation to the military members he meets to the details of military or Secret Service that serve him exudes respect, both ways.

He walks inside Marine One, dog in hand, after setting dog down, steps outside to return the salute of the Marine at the door. He spends over an hour on the flight deck of the Carrier, talking with, shaking hands with and generally spending time with "the troops," not the officers, not the leadership, but the day-in-day-out workers. After his speech on the same carrier, he quickly shakes the leaderships hands and then moves on to spend more time with "the troops!" And now this incident.

I am certain that he did not go back to get his SS agent in order to ensure his own protection. He went back because he recognized that someone, charged with serving him was being harassed. He did, again, a leaders job, at the point where the rubber meets the road.

This respect for everyone, Firefighters, Military, Secret Service, to survivors of tragedy, cannot be faked for as long and as consistently as we have seen. If President Bush's was being insincere, it would be noticed. Too many signals of deep respect are noticed only by insiders, only by those who have been in a position to recognize them.

We have, as a country, been blessed with both a great man and a great leader.
