The "Pieta" as the camera pans outwards slowly. Man, I still get a lump in my throat every time I see this

I saw it the first time in the theater, and purchased the DVD the day it came out.. but I can't imagine watching it a second time. I bought the DVD to support the movie.. but have no intentions of watching it. Too much for me!

It actually was easier watching it a second time, but you're right. It is not for the faint of heart.

It truly does give you a picture for the suffering that Christ went through for us, and is the ultimate act of love.

Has it been any different for say, the past 25 years?

I mean no disrespect saying this, but I'd rather fight the Viet Cong.
Because at least against them one could see 'em, *usually*.

Unlike the quisling mediots of today?

...who look just like you & me. ;^)

The Oscars continue to lose all meaning.

This is so true. It's very easy for an actor (read: Denzel) or actress (read: Julia Roberts) to know which film roles to accept if they want to "win" another Oscar.

Racial white-bad, black-good movies are a shoo in. Or little guy fights BIG "SOMETHING" and wins, or the ever popular "World will end tomorrow due to global warming".

Maybe they should rename "The Oscars" "The Passion" because it is the Oscars.

I bet you they gonna give some Oscars to anything that is anti-cultural and anti-Christian, as they always do each year.

"Those people" who maligned and demonized Mel Gibson and "The Passion" originally intented to stop the outright distribuiton of this epic and historical film. However, when these anti-Christian thugs saw that they couldn't stop the showing of "The Passion" their continuation of their hatred served to intimidate and remind Christians of their future actions. IOW, "Don't try again to control history by controlling the present! We are the masters of the written word and the media and the spreaders of lies."
