EXELAND, Wis. - Five people are dead and three injured in a shooting incident that apparently began over a hunting dispute in western Wisconsin.
The confrontation began around noon in a rural area southwestern Sawyer County. Authorities said a hunting party returning to their deer shack reported seeing a hunter unknown to them occupying their tree stand. That led to a shooting.
One of the shooting victims used a walkie talkie to radio back to the deer shack for help. When the victim's hunting partners came to the scene, they were also shot.
Sawyer County was in a virtual lockdown as authorities searched for the gunman. One suspect was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.
The suspect's name has not been released.
Officials at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake said they have treated at least three gunshot victims. They said one of the victims was transported to a hospital in Marshfield, WI. Another victim is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The third victim is in fair condition in the intensive care unit.
There is no beast (deer, elk, bear, etc.) on earth worth killing a human over in America the Land of Bounty and Food Banks. I wonder about alcohol consumption as a factor.

If some assclown (defined as trespasser) is in my uncle's blind, and if he doesn't cooperate after he knows he's trespassing, I'll be calling the sheriff's dept or DNR and let them handle it.

Hmong are Laotian refugees. Many Hmong fought with the US during the Vietnam war and a large group were resettled in Wisconsin during the 1980s.
There is tension between the Hmong and some people in northern Wisconsin.
I've been told that people hunt will with an SKS, but I've never actually come across it.
I agree it remarkable he was able to shoot 5 (presumably) armed people without taking return fire (that we know of).
Remarkable, but not unheard of. If he was in a good well concealed stand, and a good shot, the poor guys didn't have a chance.
I got three deer this season, no humans. The group I hunt with are all too damn good to dare fire on one another, aside from having no reason to in the first place.
And tomorrow to be changed again to "30-30".
The Hmong were our "allies." The Vietnamese hate them - ethnically different. The people Kurtz is with in Apocalypse Now were Hmong.

What the hell was this guy shooting with an SKS? IIRC, thats the kind of rifle the chinese used before they got AKs. I dad has one and they're a cheap semi-auto rifle.
