Some 20,000 people took to the streets in the western German city of Cologne on Sunday, waving German and Turkish flags, to protest against the use of violence in the name of Islam.
The marchers had two starting points -- a mosque and a cathedral -- and converged in the middle of the city for the event organized by the Islamic-Turkish Union with the slogan "Hand in Hand for Peace and Against Terror."

As he notes, it's a start.
Good on 'em.
The Turks have been the most advanced muslim nation since Ataturk secularized the country in the 1920s.
Well alrighty then!!!
More multiculturalism garbage to lull the indigenous population into a false sense of security.
I'm shocked they used Sunday for this. Usually they are mysteriously able to protest all day long during a work day.
What scummy barbarians!!!!
It's about farkin' time!
Methinks the sheetheads are starting to get a little nervous, seeing the backlash in Holland.

I don't agree. The Turks have been a part of Germany for decades. Most are assimilated: speak German, wear Western dress. Are educated or have skills. Have good coffee!
The Muslim invasion in recent years is quite different. I heard this report on the German news spot this afternoon, told others in the car with me: this is good news.
If anything, the Turks speaking out will wake up the German multi-cultis -- who may tend to see the Muslim fundamentalists as benign as the Turks have, overall, been.
At least since they failed to take Vienna! Thank goodness. And Vienna has . . . GREAT coffee! ;)
Strategic reasons for Turkish EU membership 'unconvincing', says studyReported in Die Welt, the study by the East-European Studies Institute says that because Turkish membership of the EU will bring little economic benefit, the emphasis of the discussion has shifted instead to the strategic benefits... It also criticises claims by the German government that a democratic Turkey could be a shining example to Islamic states in the Middle East as "difficult to understand". The study has been picked up by opposition Christian Democrat politicians - who favour Turkey having a 'privileged partnership' with the EU rather than full membership. Bavaria's Europe minister Eberhard Sinner (CSU) said that the study should be "required reading for every head of state and government in Europe".

Me I'm all for violent cologne. ;-)
And violent might be the best word to describe many of the scents that have wafted into my nose as folks pass by.
"cologne. ;-) " "scents"
Yes, Köln, Germany -- Cologne in English -- is the origin of the English word for cologne: For 4711 Cologne, one of the best. ;)
The German name comes from its status as an early Roman Colony.
So after-shave and cologne are named because of ancient Rome imperialism . . .
Have 20,000+ American Muslims ever protested terrorism?
It depends on the neighborhood. You can find plenty of women in "traditional" attire on the east bank of the Rhine, up around the Mulheim bridge/Weinerplatz area.
From what I've read, your average raving lunatic Arab regards the Turks as "infidels", even though the Turks are Muslims themselves.
In Turkey also the Jews and Muslims recently prayed together to commemorate the bombing at two Jewish temples.
The bombing killed both Jews and Muslims.
