This is full on weird. Such signals are normally the hallmark of the devil, not of God. I suppose it was good that he died covering a grenade, but I'm not sure having a doom-minded Marine in a squad would be an unequivocally good thing.
The dream weirded me out also. "coming to get (him)" and "taking (him) with her"... that would be a warning signal for me. Unless it is not being passed onto the readers correctly.
