BAGHDAD, Iraq -- A mosque raided by security forces in southern Baghdad contained a workshop to rig suicide car bombs, with seven vehicles ready for terror attacks, an Iraqi Defense Ministry official said Sunday.
National Guard forces raided the Sunni Muslim Al-Yassen Mosque in the Baghdad area of Abu Dshir on Saturday, said Gen. Saleh Sarhan. In addition to the seven cars, guardsmen found 30 rocket-propelled grenades, high-powered rifles, mortars and remote control detonators, Sarhan said.
He said the mosque leader and 18 other people were detained.
Anti-U.S. guerrillas used about 60 mosques in Fallujah, west of Baghdad, to stockpile weapons and provide cover during a U.S.-led offensive in the city earlier this month, the U.S. military said. One of the mosques was described as a general arms depot capable of equipping guerrillas across much of Iraq.

One of the best things about the handover in June is it took the onus off the "occupiers". This is being spearheaded by the Iraqis themselves.
They could accidently explode. Things like that happen all the time.
Hopefully, the military is using the good sense to bulldoze any mosque found to have harbored insurgents.

My only question is....when do we begin inspecting mosques HERE?
I've said for years that mosques in the U.S. need to start having "accidents" when the bomb factories in the basements blow up.
Stealth aircraft delivering GPS guided munitions in earth penetrating mode, during Friday services seems appropriate to cause these accidents.
Had all non-citizen Muslims been deported starting on 9/12/01 such radical thought would not have entered my usually level head...

it is lawful to pray, fast, make the profession of faith, or give alms in a mosque. it is lawful to go to a mosque while making the hajj. therefore it is lawful to make jihad from a mosque. it is not lawful to prevent fellow Muslims from making jihad.

Are mosques protected from searches here in the USA? I think not, and I think it's time we searched a bunch of them. (The Patriot Act should come in handy for this, no sarcasm intended)

Now, now. I thought I read somewhere that "ONLY" 55 of the 60 mosques in Fallujah served as arsenals and terrorist clubhouses.

On Meet the Press yesterday one of those being interviewed said there were more Muslims than Jews in the US. Did anyone else hear that? A very scary scenario if true.
