Governor Ehrlich (Republican from Maryland) Open House
Maryland Govt. Web Site ^ | 11-30-2004 | self

Posted on 11/30/2004 12:50:52 PM PST by staytrue

Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., First Lady Kendel S. Ehrlich, and children Drew and Joshua welcome you to their 2004 Holiday Open House on December 5, 2004 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Join the Ehrlich family at Government House across from the State House in Annapolis.

Refreshments will be served.

Cost is free and this is open to the public.

TOPICS: Announcements; News/Current Events; US: Maryland
KEYWORDS: christmas; ehrlich
Directions: goto the center traffic circle in downtown Annapolis and you will see a long line. Last year, the line was about a 30 min wait in the snow. My guess is that with better weather, the lines will be longer but it will be well worth the wait.

Last year Bob and Kendall greeted every person in the lobby. Also, there were carolers there with a model train display.

This is last year's refreshments

This is the outside.

These are the carolers.

This is me, Bob Ehrlich, and Kendall carrying Joshua inside.

Thanks for the ping.

I've admired Gov. Ehrlich for quite a while.

I live in Virginia, though.

Would I be "intruding" if I were just to show up?

Governor Ehrlich is doing a good job , he just signed an order to allow wives to stay with their Veteran Husbands at the Charlotte Halll Veterans Hospital and Home.

I thought I would say, there are no guarantees that you get to take a picture of Ehrlich.

I've been to many Ehrlich campaign events in 2002, plus being a minority, I tend to be more noticeable and I think they recognized me.

I LOVED Lt. Gov. Michael Steele's keynote speach at the RNC! Awesome! How do you get such fine people as Gov. and Lt. Gov. and your state goes for Kerry?

I did, too. I was very impressed with him and think he'll go a long way in the Repub party.

Robert Ehrlich is the first Republican Governor of the state of Maryland since Spiro T. Agnew, buffyt.

Thirty years of Democratic control and pestilence has made "The Free State" an annex of Washington, DC. Especially in Prince George's and Charles Counties.

Add the Route 270 Corridor, which is considered "Silicon Valley East" and home of Yuppie-Scum Montgomery County. Whose County Council tried un-successfully to ban Santa Claus and sue apartment and home ownwers for smoking in their homes and backyards.

Plus a predominantly black population in Baltimore. Stir in the birthplace of HandGun Control, Inc. MADD and Takoma Park, the state's own "Nuclear Free Zone". Simmer for a decade or two and you have what many Marylanders call "Massachusetts South".

Jack.

I think it's because our last rat governor did a really bad job plus Michael is black.

We only have 3 counties that are red. Two mainly are black, the third is federal employees and has a big Jewish population, but it's enough to make us a rat state.

I've worked with Steele. He just doesn't give good speeches, he is a fabulous, honorable man.

Nice digs! How neat for the Gov. and his wife to do this for the citizens of the state.

Folks, this state will need help in a coupla years defending against Quasi-EM Fumee who looks likely to seek the next U.S. Senate seat opening in '06.

So is Paul Sarbanes retiring and Queasy running for his seat? How about Michael Steele runs against him? That would be cool!

Possibly - I definitely could seem him as a VP candidate - if not in 2008, then 2012 and he could go up from there!

Works for me! I've thought for many years that the first black AND the first female Presidents will be Republicans.

"Did you mention FreeRepublic to him (Ehlrich)?"

I've known/worked in various capacities for and with the Governor since 1986. He and his wife, First Lady Kendel Ehrlich, are two of the classiest and ballsiest people I've ever met. I met Lt. Governor Steele in 2001 and I worked some with both the Governor and Lt. Governor on Ehrlich's 2002 Gubernatorial Campaign.

Over the past year or so, I've made both men aware of FreeRepublic. In fact, at the MD GOP Fall Convention a few weeks ago, I informed Steele directly of a lot of the praise/compliments/support he has from so many Freepers. After this discussion, one of Steele's aides asked me for FR's web address. I know this aide well, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was lurking on here now and then.

When Ehrlich's second term is over and Lt. Gov Steele runs for Governor, hopefully he will have the coattails in 2010 when I plan on running for the state legislature.

I let out a howl on election night 2002 when Dan Rather projected Ehrlich as the winner in MD. I was so thrilled to see him beat that airhead opponent of his. Just yesterday I got a Christmas card from Gov Ehrlich and his family. I sent a few small contributions during the '02 campaign so I guess I remain on the supporter's list. It is very nice (and politically shrewd) for the Maryland GOP to remember supporters that way.

I wish I could attend the open house but it is too far to travel. I hope many Marylanders can go.

Ehrlich is a terrific candidate and his opponent Kennedy Townsend (yes she is a Kennedy) was a poor candidate.

I sent a check to the Ehrlich campaign and noted on it "Beat Kathleen" . I just got to shake my head at how many public school employees are still driving around with old weathered Kathleen Kennedy Townsend/Larsen bumper stickers (and new shiny Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers- for now! He He He!)

Any idea who the troll was whose posts were removed from this thread? I am very curious about this. It may have something to do with the attempts to smear the Gov and with the exit of Steffen. If more comfortable to do so, Freepmail me with what you know.
