Argentine warship hits Brazil ship From correspondents in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil December 1, 2004

AN Argentine warship inadvertently fired on a Brazilian frigate during joint naval exercises in the Atlantic Ocean, injuring five people, officials said.

Four Brazilian sailors and an Argentine officer were hurt during live-fire training late on Monday night off the coast of Brazil near Cabo Frio, 125km north-east of Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Navy said.

The accident happened when an Argentine warship fired a shot from one its canons, hitting the Brazilian frigate Rademaker.

The five men were taken to a naval hospital in Rio de Janeiro for treatment. Three sailors were released, while two others remained in hospital in stable condition. None of the injuries was considered serious, the navy said.

The Rademaker sailed to Rio's port under its own power. No damage to the ship was visible in aerial images showed by Brazilian media outlets.

It's awfully hard to 'accidentally' hit another ship with naval guns.

How the hell did the Argentine officer get hurt? Did the captain punch out his lights for fireing on the Brazilian ship?

See how much happier everybody would be if only the Brits sank it at the time of Falklands war?

Nice looking boat. I wonder where the hole is? Article says its not visable from the air, so they must have been using unfused or dummy rounds.

Well, sold it to Brazil after the Falklands War. The Brazilians weren't involved in that war.

I note the story doesn't say what ship fired the shot.

This Brazilian nurse is standing by for the injured.

I sure hope Iran and Pakistan don't do any joint "nuclear exercises" and have a similar incident.

Heck no, it isn't! I used to be a checksight observer, and I can tell you it's really easy to...

Never mind.
