REPUBLICANS HAVE DEMS OVER A 'BARREL'
New York Post ^ | 12/02/04 | DEBORAH ORIN

Posted on 12/02/2004 12:32:19 AM PST by kattracks

THE United Nations looms as a new hot political issue, thanks to the exploding revelations of corruption of its oil-for-food program — and that spells more trouble for a Democratic Party still reeling from its Nov. 2 election losses.

Why? Because Democrats tend to reflexively back the United Nations — that's what 2004 loser John Kerry did, suggesting that a corrupt U.N. that cheerfully let Saddam Hussein rip off $21.3 billion could be trusted more than President Bush in Iraq.

"The idea that we need the U.N. to help us was certainly not a popular thing in focus groups that I watched this fall," dryly remarks senior Democratic strategist Anita Dunn.

[snip]

Republican pollster Jim McLaughlin puts it this way: "Kofi Annan has run the U.N. like Tony Soprano — and when voters realize it, they're going to be really angry."

He contends some news outlets, like CBS and The New York Times, have downplayed the scandal because they are reflexively pro-U.N., just like most reporters. But even they are starting to have to cover it — and congressional probers of both parties say what's out so far is only the tip of the iceberg.

Oh, goody. I was waiting for this to "Blow Up" after the election (at least if Bush won).

Now I get to watch Bush pretend to act innocent while fomenting the destruction of the UN. Oh, goody... I'm gonna LOVE This... (quit drooling all over your keyboard, fire_eye...)

Why we keep wasting our time and taxpayers dollars on this useless and corrupt organization run by 3rd world mafiosi is totally beyond me.

We need to PNG every last one of these diplo-slugs, throw the UN out of the USA, and slam the door behind them.

Me too, not only the UN tho, but all our "allies" who will be implicated, and their true motivation for uniting against US for going into Iraq will be revealed.
Justice will be served in healthy portions all around, and Bush will be vindicated, and all the Michael Moores of the world will eat crow.

the whole UN needs to resign
It is nothing but a corrupt institution that stands by and allows hundreds of thousands of people to be killed and does nothing to stop it .. and that's just in Iraq under Saddam's rule

We haven't even discussed all the other countries where people have suffered because the UN was to busy collecting their bribes

Me too. And it's been going on for decades. I could tell you stories from the '50s and '60s of how the UN behaved in Africa... like the pimp who was under permanent retainer to supply girls and boys - usually underage - to the 5* hotel the UN-crats always stayed in ... like the way they wouldn't eat any local food, but had everything flown down from Paris via Fort Lamy ... the wine, cigars, perfume, designer goods &c imported by the French Embassy duty free and sold or given to these hacks (sold to the junior officers, given to the senior who could arrange paybacks)...

No argument - shut it down.

honey, get me a sixpack and start some popcorn in the microwave.

I'm gonna love to see that damm Anti-Semitic, Anti-Christian and Anti-American scum Kofi Annan get his ass kicked all the way up the street and then booted outta the UN.

Could'nt happen to a nastier p.o.s. but it could happen sooner.

For an organization whose sole purpose is to protect all of human rights worldwide, the only human's rights that are protected in this day and age in the UN are the tin horn dictatorships worldwide. The UN should go the way of the League Of Nations.

No, he's run it just like any third-world corrupt little country, because that's his roots and only know-how.

I have posted this information before, but it deserves reiteration.
Everybody should log on to www.moveamericaforward.org post haste, and sign the online petition to kick the UN out of Manhattan and withdraw all American funding until further notice.
Do it now.

The UN is probably a good concept but in practice it just shows that when you put a bunch of diplomats and bureaucrats in the same room, they accomplish little except figuring out how to line their pockets with somebody else's money.

These Leftist scum aren't interested in human rights. They're interested in destroying every vestige of liberal democracy on the planet by assaulting our insitutions and undermining our moral authority.

The UN is a Stalinist organization.

I'm aware of that, and I agree. I made that point clear by stating that the original purpose of the United Nations was to foster human rights worldwide. Since the founding of the United Nations, in this day and age, they've strayed so far off course, the only course of action is just to do away with the United Nations.

"I'm aware of that, and I agree. I made that point clear by stating that the original purpose of the United Nations was to foster human rights worldwide."

That was the stated purpose. It seems to me however, that the organization was perhaps founded for another purpose - to undermine the very idea of rights by expanding the definition of rights.

Rights were originally defined as originating in nature and not from the legislator's pen. They were few and specific to the individual. Today, the opposite is generally held to be the case. And this, I think, has been due in no small part to globalist organizations such as the United Nations.

It was never designed to protect human rights. It is made up from representatives of the governments of the world, which means it is of the governments, by the governments, for the governments. As the 20th century has proved, any ordinary citizen of any country has more to fear from their own leaders than foriegn invaders. The entire foundation of the UN is wrong.
