GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian militants detonated a bomb Tuesday near an Israeli army base in the central Gaza Strip, causing several Israeli casualties, Palestinian and Israeli security sources said.
At least two soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment at an Israeli hospital, they said. Palestinian security sources said the militant Islamic group Hamas was behind the attack.
No further details were immediately available about the incident which took place along a road leading to the Netzarim Jewish settlement.
Looks like 4 injured; all lightly.
Bet we don't see any photos of the dead Israelis or their funerals. Now if there had been Palestinian casualties we would presented with weeping friends and relatives and more than likely bloodspots on the ground or even a dead body.
Israel Army Radio reporting the same as my above comment.
al Qaida taking over Hamas funded by Saudi Arabia and covered up by CAIR
I never understood the logic behind the settlements. Supposedly the settlement program was the brainchild of Sharon, establishing communities on strategic hilltop locations but if that was the case then fortified army outposts would have been more effective and vastly cheaper. I recall a JPost in depth article on a settler's daily routine. They need so much protection 24/7, going to and fro through hostile territory, it's ridiculous. Now after all these years Arik is removing and consolidating settlements in the west bank and removing them entirely from Gaza at immense and possibly fatal political expense. I really wonder what he was thinking. Anyone know any books in english on the subject?
That's because, according to the media, the Palestinians are merely poor peace loving insurgents who have no choice but to fight against the Nazi-like terrorist Israeli occupiers. And who cares what happens to Nazis.
See, it's really simple.
Palestinians kills Israeli and its so routine that its almost non-news.
The "settlements" are media-speak for "towns" and "villages". The "Palestinians" don't live in "towns" or "villages", they live in "refugee camps". All the kibbutzes are considered "settlements" by the Arabs, and those antedate the birth of Ariel Sharon. After 1967, Israel also had "settlements" in the Sinai, and the "settlers" there flipped out when those were removed under the peace treaty with Egypt. The withdrawals Sharon's imposing are to consolidate Jewish communities into more easily defended locations, while not giving up everything on the former West Bank of Jordan. Gaza is not considered historically part of Israel, has something like 3000 Jews living there, and (since it isn't landlocked) would be an ideal place for a "Palestinian" state. Even if it just becomes a haven and magnet for the criminal mass-murderers, Sharon's policy will have succeeded.
Gaza is considered part of historical and religious Israel except for the 200 years of Phillistine occupation.
