Arson Fires Deemed Worst In Maryland History
Investigators Comb Burned Homes For Evidence
POSTED: 6:45 am EST December 7, 2004
UPDATED: 1:56 pm EST December 7, 2004
INDIAN HEAD, Md. -- Fire investigators are searching for evidence in the rubble of dozens of torched houses in what's being called the worst arson fire in Maryland State history. According to Faron Taylor, a deputy state fire marshal, more than 20 federal, local and state investigators searched for forensic evidence. Some $10 million in damage was done at 41 homes at the Hunters Brooke subdivision, near Indian Head in Charles County. And, Taylor said, 12 homes were destroyed. The fires were reported before 5 a.m. Monday, drawing firefighters from Charles and three other counties to the 319-unit subdivision about 25 miles south of Washington, Charles County spokeswoman Nina Voehl said. The homes, in a development next to an environmental preserve, were priced between $400,000 and $500,000. The pricey new subdivision has been the subject of a lawsuit between environmentalists and the Army Corps of Engineers. FBI spokesman Barry Maddox said FBI agents examined the scene, and ecoterrorism was one of the motives that would be investigated.

Remember these photographs the next time you are asked to donate money to an 'environmentalist' group.

Remember these photographs the next time you are asked to donate money to an 'environmentalist' group. Sure looks like the work of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) to me...

The Kerry campaign employed an IT guy named Zak Exerly. as its Director of On-Line Communications. Google Exerly and ELF, ALF and earth First. Not accusing him of anything. It's just, you know...interesting.

Confusing money for lives is a real problem. Their "concern" stems from the fact that a dozen or more Deputy Assistant Undersecretaries for Ensuring Expenditures in the Department of Redundancy Department will have to stay in their luxury condos for another year or so.
D.C. parasites need these homes to host lobbiest parties - it'll be a "concern" for some time.

Of course, the waste material, new construction material, replacement material, and replacement trucks, tractors, disposal, and labor and fumes and destruction are worst from the 10.0 million(!) in fire than what these few homes "might" do to the nearby "precious wetlands" the eco-freaks are hysterical about....)
But the eco-freaks burned them anyway.

Not to mention all the contaminated runoff from the fire that flowed into the pristine wetlands.

Confusing money for lives is a real problemAgreed...The Denver Channel would have been clearer in their title if they had made it something like ""Arson Fires Deemed Worst Property Loss in Maryland History". I would imagine that they're assuming people will read the article and then understand the meaning, but I agree it would have been better to declare that distinction at the outset.

Yes, you can see how very concerned ELF is with the environment. Net result of their 'handiwork'... thousands of trees wasted which could have provided homes for centuries, wasted fuel and hours of labor by the construction crews, wasted brick and concrete which required energy to produce, and more pollution caused by the fire than thousands of dreaded SUV's.
ELF is a terrorist group and should be pursued as such.

Obviously this is the work of southern redneck militia racists --- no wait, did you say these are upscale
houses? Not old country
churches?
Will be interesting to see how long it takes the MSM to get around to investigating possible nature loving environmentalist involvement.
Could be stupid teenagers. Could be stupid thugs. Could be rich-hating libs. Could be the ELF.

...or in 2006, and 2008, at the ballot box. Everyone needs to be reminded of these terrorist acts during those campaign seasons. Lots of MOR voters like the suburbs, and are appalled by these acts.

Actually, if lives had been lost the headline would have said something like "5 Die in Worst Arson Fire....."
Usually, the media is all about the body count - I do not mean that statement in a disrespectful way. Bad news sells and death is always the worst news.

Agreed! Reminds me of a jealous person who stalks their spouse and thinks...."If I can't have her/him....nobody can"......then kills the spouse....
(Extreme example...but you see my point..;)
