Facts About Title X - The National Family Planning Program
The national family planning program, Title X of the Public Health Service Act, was established in 1970 with broad bi-partisan support. The original measure was introduced by then Representatives James Scheuer (D-NY) and George Bush (R-TX) and Senators Joseph Tydings (D-MD) and Charles Percy (R-IL). The program supports a nationwide network of approximately 4,600 "clinics" and provides reproductive health services to approximately 5 million persons each year. $280,000,000 was appropriated in fiscal year 2004

I believe that the title X family planning program should be reauthorized. I now urge the Congress to adopt a bill that promotes true family planning rather than requiring Federal tax dollars to be used in a manner that promotes abortion as a method of birth control.
Take a look at the information on the HLI website and see for yourself the influence and hand the United Nations has in population control along with its various agencies: USAID, UNFPA and the so-called, pro-children UNICEF.

As always, you guys already beat me to the keen observations -- thanks. The press confrence yesterday was dynomite, from a dynomite primere no-exceptions organization, HLI. Indeed, we need the pro-life movement needs to call for the defunding of all population control efforts. Good luck, however, in getting the Bush family to do it. Never before has PP been better funded than under George the Lesser. His granda, (who was on the board of PP) would be proud. Perhaps if the other "pro-life" outfits in the nation were to jump onboard instead of continuting to milk the PBA dog and poney show, perhaps we could get somewhere.
