Its nice to know the PC whores are world wide. Jap is short for Japanese. If you don't like it feel free not to read my post. The 1st Amendment covers that!

"Sounds like there were a lot of "Japs" (sic) there when you visited. Were there any "Niggers" (sic) there, too?"

What an ugly thing to say! Does this mean we're not friends anymore? Why, if you were not my friend I just don't think I could bear it! (Sarcasm off)

I've dealt with this type before.

Well, I've dealt with a lot of racist whores as a matter of fact.

Usually when all is said and done I feel more pity or humor rather than any measure of anger. When it's analyzed as the fundamental sickness it is, one has better sympathy for such a phenomenon.

No need for me to be upset at what you or others of like mind would write, I'd much rather be comfortable eliciting further understanding of your issues and problems to better explain it.

Not a racist, just call 'em like I see 'em. My issue was with them smiling and laughing on a US Naval gravesite. After all it was because of their perfidity that the attack happened the way it did. Perhaps that is why I took offense. At any rate there is a proper modicum of respect due to those men who lost their lives. For me, they were my brothers! If you've served then you would know what I mean. If not, then you haven't a clue.

Were the Japanese tourists on your boat laughing holding videocameras like the ones on my boat?

Yes, Elvis is responsible for funding that memorial and it speak volumes for him.

My two boys and I were there this past Tues for an internment and my Cub Scouts helped raise 2,600 flags over the U.S.S. Arizona.

For everyone's information, the marine in charge of the military representation reminded the marines, soldiers, air force, navy and coast guards that the memorial was a cemetery and if they had a joke to save it. So the Japanese tourists are not the only ones who have problems. For that matter, I've seen many people take video cameras to the memorial and use them.

There are some things that culturally are not translated well and, yes, there are a lot of Japanese tourists here in Hawaii. Sometimes, it is better to let things pass rather than hang on to resentment.

Anyhow, the internment ceremony was extremely touching. The two bells ceremony and Taps brought tears. This particular sailor, lost his brother on the U.S.S. Arizona on Pearl Harbor Day and was actually being interred in the 4th turrent--where he worked. It was the first time that someone was actually interred where he was stationed.

There is absolutely no reason that the word "Jap" is racist, beyond PC pandering. None. If you can explain to me how shortening the actual word used to describe a citizen of Japan is racist, go ahead. I'll look forward to an explanation of what makes the word "Chinaman" racist, as well. And explain why the Poles, Brits, and Aussies don't agree.

When the Japanese take down the Yazukuni shrine museum comments blaming the U.S. for Pearl Harbor, I might jump on your PC bandwagon. Until then, they get no sympathy from me whatsoever, especially on silly, 100% PC b.s. like this.

It would be like me laughing at a place like Hiroshima. They smile and laugh real good until you remind them of where the Atomic Bombs were field tested at.

I have been to sacred shrines in Hiroshima, and I have seen many Americans wearing touristy clothing and laughing and chewing gum. We are just as guilty.

"I have been to sacred shrines in Hiroshima, and I have seen many Americans wearing touristy clothing and laughing and chewing gum. We are just as guilty."

Well it wasn't me that you saw there! I've never been to Hiroshima. And before you start trying to lecture me about things, don't forget, I am a veteran who served, and at the time I witnessed this conduct I was still on active duty. So put yourself in my shoes if you can, and see how you would feel! And perhaps if Japan hadn't started the war and turned it into a war of extermination, then the A-Bomb might never have been dropped.

Better yet, go find some of the few remaining POWs who were on the Bataan Death March, or at some of the hell holes the Japs called POW camps, and then ask them how they view the Japanese laughing when visiting the USS ARIZONA Memorial.

The only Japanese who know the true respect to display are the Veterans who bombed Pearl Harbor!

Thank-you for that. I didn't know.

For some reason it is not widely known. No official credit is given to him for it. Considering how long the project languished for lack of funds, I kind of wonder where people like Bob Hope was for instance. He was worth far more than Elvis ever was. That sort of says something I think.

First, I didn't say it wasn't OFFENSIVE, because any jackass can be offended at any damn thing he wants. Jesse Jackson is offended by people calling African Americans blacks. But is that racist? Hardly--except to the PC police. The word 'Jap' is the same. You can't tell me how Brits, Aussies, or Poles are pissed off about shortening THEIR names, and how THAT's racist, so you just shove that aside.

Second, the notion of the dictionary somehow proving that the word is somehow inherently evil is laughable. You tell me it's offensive and can't explain why other than 'it is,' and say 'Japanese kids will whup your butt.' Great argument there, Socrates. The PC police told you and Japanese youth that 'Jap' is racist, years after the fact, and you all bought it. Just like you buy that slurring r's and l's to make fun of Far Eastern Asians is racist, even though darn near every Far Eastern Asian does do that without serious language practice. And of course, I can't use the word 'Oriental' to describe them, because THAT's racist, too.

Third, that the PC dictionaries 'back you up' gives you the right to call me a crackpot? No, but it does give me the right to call you a pushover for libs. Good thing the PC police didn't tell you the word or color "yellow" was offensive, or you'd have us out painting the schoolbuses.

And in case you do hanker to check, let me know when you read a Jap textbook discussing WWII and who caused it.

Wow. An exclamation point. I too am a combat veteran. You sound like you need to take something to calm you down. They fought dirty, and killed. We fought dirty, and killed. War is dirty business. Relax, don't fret about other posts if they are just someone's random observation. That war is over. We won. What is always more important is the next war. And we're in it.

I have resided in Japan (Yokohama) for over 10 years. I came here via the military. I wasnt a racist person before I came here, but this place has changed me. The world needs to know what Japanese are really like. I never served in WW2, Im a bit younger, but the hate I got towards Japanese is very deep. If I seen one lauging that goofy smile or tooth grin, Id loose it. Its just cause I deal with it everyday over here. Its annoying.

Good luck on that.

Everyone's experience is different.

You might be embarrassed if I told you I was of Japanese extraction.

Was there over 20 years ago. I don’t recall any admission fees, but that might be a good way to collect funds to rebuild.
