Islamist Threat to Public Schools in Columbia, South Carolina? On January 6, 2004, Anti-CAIR published a Press Release concerning Minhaj Arastu, the lead contact for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) chapter in Columbia, South Carolina.
Why are we revisiting this issue? Its the result of a complaint Anti-CAIR (ACAIR) received from the parent of an Irmo High School, Columbia, SC student. Why is Irmo High School important? Mijhaj Arastu is the teacher the parent is concerned about.
In his capacity of teacher at Irmo High School, Mr. Arastu:
1. Required the students to create a pamphlet which would teach people about Islam.
2. Spent an inordinate amount of time discussing the 5 pillars of Islam.
3. Had an Orthodox Christian priest speak to the class who informed the students that all religions are based on Islam.
4. Told students that the United States is a Judeo-Christian-Muslim nation according to the beliefs of the founding fathers.
5. According to the student, Arastu is a passionate Muslim and is the sponsor of the school Muslim student group and was instrumental in having a portion of the school library set aside for Muslim students to pray each day. (There are no such accommodations for other faiths.)
So we have a CAIR officer, sponsoring the schools Muslim student group, bringing in speakers who falsely claim that the founding fathers desired the fledgling United States to be a Judeo-Christian-Muslim nation requiring students to create Muslim pamphlets learning about the five pillars of Islam
Just when do we Americans wake up to the threat of militant Islam in our public schools? When is enough enough? What will it take to get parents, teachers, administrators, and the public incensed to the point where positive steps are taken to protect our children from the false indoctrination and perversions of radical Islamists?
We saw with our own eyes the evil of radical Islam on 9-11 were seeing militant Islam rear its filthy head in Europe on an almost daily basis our soldiers are returning to our country in body bags as the result of militant Islamists hell-bent on earning a place in paradise by killing infidels just why do we put up with militant Islam in the United States? At what point will the straw break and what will happen when it does?
We invite our readers to read an excellent article by Dr. Daniel Pipes on the issue of Islamist influence in the public schools. The gist of Dr. Pipes article is that Islamists are deliberately targeting our school systems in an attempt to spread propaganda to students in the tenets of Islam.
Read his words carefully
youll never be able to say you werent warned
I thought you couldn't teach any religion in a public school.

I thought you couldn't teach any religion in a public school.
Only Christianity is not allowed.
BTTT
Sure would be interesting to know the (real) name of this "priest."
a portion of the school library set aside for Muslim students to pray each day
_______________________________________________________________
I thought schools decided that religon couldn't exist at school. Then I saw the Muslim part. I think I will be checking this out.
Something needs to be done about this...
Where are the South Carolina Freepers?
Helloooo....
Man, I would LOVE to help my sons create a pamphlet teaching people about Islam. In fact, I think I'll do just that. And it will be all true.
The teaching is bad enough but what about the praying-----how can it be legal?
The classic "runnin' him out of town on a rail" oughta be revived. I'm looking up more on this from "anti-Cair" . Hope they have a website.
Where is the ACLU? Are they afraid of the Muslims?
GRRRRRR..this crap is happening at Irmo High School...my alma mater!
Of everything in that Press report, this is what angers me....look what they are teaching to corrupt the kids' minds....
"4. Told students that the United States is a Judeo-Christian-Muslim nation
according to the beliefs of the founding fathers"
These people need to be STOPPED preaching their stupid crap in the classrooms....when non_Islamic religious teachings in the Public Schools are not permitted.
I am in India, but I will work my btt off this morning and will phone this particular school's dumb administrator.
Someone contact the ACLU. ....they'd be furious. / sarc
"Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth face harassment and violence in schools every day across the country. This is precisely why."
Kerry Lobel, NGLTF Executive director
Outrage was expressed by leaders of The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force over the cancellation of a May 7 South Carolina High School Performance by the popular duo the Indigo Girls. The school's Principal, Gerald Witt, acted because the women are lesbians.
"Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth face harassment and violence in schools across the country. This is precisely why," stated Task Force executive director Kerry Lobel. "We urge Principal Witt to change his tune." The Grammy Award-winning duo, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, were slated to give a free half-hour performance during a talent show at Irmo High School near Columbia. Irmo High Schools Principal Witt canceled the show, saying through a spokesperson it was because Saliers and Ray are lesbians. Since publicity arose about the cancellation, principal Witt is attributing the cancellation to other reasons, in addition to the sexual orientation of the performers.
"The refrain of Ray and Saliers is integrity and respect for everyone. Principal Witt certainly has a lesson or two to learn from the Indigo Girls," said Lobel.
The Indigo Girls may be going forward with other arrangements for a show in Irmo next week. The Irmo High School show was part of a series of scheduled high school performances by the Indigo Girls.
Indigo Girls & GLAAD: Cancellation Homophobic
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Grammy Award-winning Indigo Girls expressed deep disappointment and shock at a South Carolina high school principal's decision to cancel a performance by the group. The Indigo Girls, who since 1989 have sold close to 8 million records, were to perform for free at the school and were planning to give interviews to local journalism students following the show.
Earlier this week, Irmo High School Principal Gerald Witt canceled the concert after a number of parents complained about the openly gay duo's sexual orientation. Witt contends that it was not merely the complaints nor the duo's sexual orientation that had led him to cancel the show. According to a Knight-Ridder article, Witt cited worries about safety during the performance.
Joan M. Garry, GLAAD's Executive Director and part of the team which originally launched and developed MTV Networks in 1981 was particularly troubled that such blatant prejudice was fueled by the leader of an educational institution. "It is a travesty that a performance by the Indigo Girls--who have long exemplified service and commitment to a diverse number of important social issues--would be considered anything other than enlightening and celebratory. Instead of Mr. Witt using this opportunity to teach his students how to dismantle homophobia, he has demonstrated precisely how to promote fear and intolerance."
Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls issued the following statement: "We are saddened and angry to hear that our show at Irmo High School has been cancelled. It is a blatant case of homophobia. The show was cancelled because we are gay. In the wake of recent violence in schools and the often bleak environment for kids which includes the cutting of school arts programs and lack of creative outlets," said Saliers, "we believe that playing free high school shows will provide a positive musical and emotional experience for high school students. Despite this particular cancellation, we will play in Columbia, SC and we'd like to thank the people there and elsewhere who support our collective message of respect and justice for all human beings."
Jennifer H. Einhorn, GLAAD's Director of Communications, stated that, "Surely Mr. Witt would not prohibit an appearance by a multi-Grammy award winning group because of their religious affiliation or ethnicity. In that regrard, this egregious and hurtful decision is one all Americans must not tolerate."
In Russia they killed and raped the children of the school.
In America, they are using brainwashing.
The bottom line is that we loose our children.
Options:
1. Attend all meeting of the city council and the school board. Join both and become active in local politics.
2. Pull your kids out of public schools and start homeschooling. This pulls money out the local public schools. If enough people do this, things will change.

not to mention GWB calling it a religion of peace.
..."...We saw with our own eyes the evil of radical Islam on 9-11
were seeing militant Islam rear its filthy head in Europe on an almost daily basis
..Islamists hell-bent on earning a place in paradise by killing infidels
"...
Islam is an affront to the history of mankind. Other religions and other cultures have had to come to grips with their doctrine. Islam feels itself exempt from self-inspection.
Islam has waived its virtue in America. Islam is a gutter cult, and deserves no place in public schools.

Homosexual Agenda Ping. The article is about Muslim indoctrination in a S.C. school but post #16 is an article relevent to our pinglist.
The word "hurtful" hurts my ears.
Let me and ItsOurTimeNow know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

I can assure you the disapproving glares of townspeople do not help, but they dress like they're in the 7th century. However, the women (and men) drive cars, go figure.
Frankly I'm amazed this is tolerated anywhere, but I really didn't think it would be tolerated in the Bible Belt.
The new world: Teaching Christianity is bad. Teaching Islam is good.
These people that want to follow and introduce their cultures into American history and into the founding principles is how typical Islamists forcefully feeds non-Muslim societies with their rubbish garbage religion.
I went to the school website just now. I found this Mr.Arastu's particulars. I am going to call the school first thing this evening i.e early morning in USA.
You can if your threat to kill anyone attempting to prevent you from doing so is credible.
"The only religion on earth."
It's amazing that people don't/don't want to see what the purveyors of Islam openly admit.
The history of Islamic domination, slaughter, aggression, rapine, and forced conversions is horrible.
I used to think nicely of Islam (respecting all religions) but I have come to think differently. I know that many Muslim regular people are not evil. They have been born into that culture, and according to the tenets of Islam, are not allowed under pain of death to "quit". But the teachings degrade the mind. The best Muslims are those who aren't very religious, it seems.
Every Muslim east of Saudi Arabia (as well as in other directions) is the descendent of someone who was forcibly converted, often at the point of a scimitar.
PING!
Would you want to be the public school official who told this group they couldn't pray? You could be next to be Van Goghed.
That's a trick question.
1. Attend all meeting of the city council and the school board. Join both and become active in local politics.
2. Pull your kids out of public schools and start homeschooling. This pulls money out the local public schools. If enough people do this, things will change.
3. Take your children to a Christian independent school. There are lots of them in SC. For the closest one, check the website of the SC Independent School Association. That's what I did, and I help pay the tuition by teaching high school Spanish (many parents work in different capacities at the school for a reduced tuition). At our school we have daily devotions, weekly chapel, k4-12 Bible classes... and no Islam is taught!
We have our hands full exposing GLSEN and now we have to worry about yet another filthy evil, bald-faced liar organization, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). It never ends.
I'm just trying to see this issue from the school administrator's eyes. Most would like to live to enjoy their retirement.
So you are suggesting that non-Muslims in this world should simply bend over and allow these violent people of the moongod aka the 72 virgin seekers take over our Public Schools? If Americans do not learn how to fight back these Islamists legally and ideologically, American society will simply die down like how the Asian societies have died down and how Eurpean societies are currently dying down, unable to fight the Islamic violence.
I don't think this has a place in the public school but the children should not have to be pawns to challenge this. It must be legally challenged.

Oh, I have no problem seeing it through the administrator's eye. What I have a problem with is thinking of it as anything but craven cowardice.
Personally, I'd regard such an attack as nothing so much as an opportunity.
that is why people like us that believe in common goals should fight these Islamic idiots aka 72 virgin seekers aka anti-infidels.
I didn't suggest that. But I fight my own fights, I don't use my children! Young children are impressionable and I would never consider allowing mine to be exposed to the kind of brain washing that is going on at Irmo High. It had been suggested that homeschooling would help by taking students (and money) out of the public school system. All I did was to suggest another alternative that would have the same effect, i.e. independent school education. That said, I'll do whatever I can to help stop the madness at Irmo High...
In that nihilistic, multicultarilist, liberal environment however, it would have been very hard for you to survive. I'm happy for you that you are in some other line of work. :)
Our school administrators have their work cut out for them. Sadly, the weasley ones probably have it easier than those with backbone.
Okay, that makes sense! But, I mean, look at these Islamic idiots, now they are corrupting the young brains....this is outright outrageous!
I know public schools are a necessity for some families.
I realize it takes two incomes, sometimes three to
just 'break even' these days.
I have home schooled my son from the time he could speak.
I became a stay at home dad to do this.
We are in our eighth year as teacher/student.
Home schooling is not for everyone.
Between annual dues to SCAIHS (South Carolina Association Independent Home Schools),
HSLDF (Home School Legal Defense Fund) and text/work books,
we spend close to $1500.00/child.
Peace of mind knowing my child is well educated in all
areas, politically aware, and most of all safe from
druggies, shootings, perverts, etc... priceless.
Oh, I get that question, about my son being "anti-social",
from liberal poofs all the time. Take five
minutes with my son and ask him any question and he'll
give a point by point reply of his views. I might add
that I guarantee you'll understand him.
Yet, he's not mouthy or rude.
As for Irmo High School, sorry for their loss.
For the Yellow Jackets will lose. That school district has the very
best of all that can be offered to students, physically and materially.
I have loads of friends that graduated from Irmo High.
Many are home schoolers these days.
Look into these links for more info on SCAIHS
Be sure to check out HSLDA for court reports and defenses across the nation.
These folks have a real grasp on what it takes to educate children today to be great citizens tomorrow. If you are thinking of home schooling in SC, feel free to FReepmail me with any questions. I don't know all but I usually know where the answers are located.
I agree 1,000%!!! This is the time for brainstorming. What can we do? Off the top of my head, I'm considering writting to the school principal and to Gov. Sandford. What about the school board? We ought to demand they fire the teacher (secret ballot if they are chicken). How about the local churches? How can we let our outrage be known?
BTW, this may be a good time to resurect the idea of doing away with the Department of Education. If schools were run at the local level only, it is hard to imagine a school board that would approve of this indoctrination...specially around here in the Bible belt. So many things we can do, so very few people willing to try!
Ping
I do sympathize with your quandary. However, I do not sympathize with the administrator's quandary.
Anyone who has to soil their knees to make next months bills has sold their souls.
I am going to call the offices of -
1. ACLU,
2. FoxNews Carriers, BBC, CNN
3. Alliance Defense Fund,
4. Local churches in SC,
5. The school's principal and other administrators.
I do not know how legal things are handled in America. But these are the only places I know I can phone and mail written letters.
You guys in US should try to do something before these Islamists run you all over with their Talibanistic, Islamic ideologies by corrupting your kids.
Tell me, is there any other way I or my friends here in my school can contribute to this cause?
Support vouchers so you can send your kids to christian schools.
