Wasn't it nice of Greta to help Jeffrey Feiger rehabilitate his reputation?

Oh she tried but no one, at least here in Michigan was convinced.....Feiger is despicable

Yeah PC was a joke when it started, now it's quickly becoming a reign of terror that will be looked back on with horror in 25-50 years, depending how long it lasts. Nobody speaks their mind, nobody opens up. It should be remembered that in order for some thing to be "Politically" Correct, it has to pass the test of being "FACTUALLY" Incorrect, with that being an unacceptable answer, according to the Leftist Internationalist Speech Protocol, or L.I.S.P.

If they're not guilty enough to serve the sentence, they're not guilty. I don't think anyone should be convicted of a crime that the jury doesn't think they committed. Period.

That doesn't make any sense. If you don't think he's guilty, why punish him at all?

Has America adopted the Soviet system of justice?

Yes!

I've lost count of how many people have said if they were on the jury they couldn't give him the death penalty because there wasn't enough evidence, but they'd have no problem convicting him. They wouldn't give him the death penalty because they might be executing an innocent man, but it's okay to send an innocent man to prison for life, because a woman and baby are dead and someone has to pay. They don't even care who. I've tried to point out the flaws in that thinking, but not a single person has seen anything wrong with their logic. It's scary.

Join the club. EggsAckley scouts for newbies, and accuses them of being trolls. It's an addiction. Naturally there are some trolls, so EggsAckley claims this as proof that she's right. If you accuse everyone of being a troll, you will sometimes be right, but you will never be taken seriously.

I just get annoyed by the word "scrapbooking" most of all...

Could it be because "scrapbooking" implies an unnatural obsession? Like bird watching. I live at the edge of swamp. I like to see the birds and other wildlife. Occasionally I use my binoculars to get a better view, then I go back to whatever else I was doing. The surrounding area is overpopulated. Bird watchers show up in my driveway with cameras, binoculars and tripods. They block my driveway and head off down the street with thousands of dollars worth of bird watching equipment. When they return, I give them the business card of the towing company that removed their car from my driveway.

And that's my favorite rant...

Sitting at a computer all day, looking for people to insult is not the life for me. You can have it.

I already stated that one can be convicted on circumstantial evidence.

We are simply talking about sentencing guidelines and not about guilt or innocense. The legislature can determine any sentencing guidelines it wishes. It requires 2, 5, 7, 15, life, death, etc. based on the details of the crime.

They can pass a law that limits death sentencing to those guilty parties that have either 2 eyewitnesses and/or physical evidence.

Or they can have a new trial called 1st degree murder capital that requires 2 eyewitnesses and/or physical evidence. It can be the only trial eligible to impose the death sentence. If the prosecution doesn't have the requisite evidence, then they will prosecute under 1st degree murder life.

These are simply my opinions. They are designed to provide something near absolute certainty that innocent parties are not executed.

Just noticed your tagline. Thank you for you service.

By the time you get to the sentencing phase, guilt has been determined. If there are any reasonable doubts, there should be no sentence at all. This is not a civil trial where the ruling is based on a preponderance of evidence. A determination of guilty means you're sure he did it, not that you think he probably did. In the sentencing phase, you must decide if the crime committed is deserving of the death penalty, not if the evidence was sufficient to prove he committed the crime. There are many things to consider in the sentencing phase, but guilt or innocent is not one of them. If you've gotten to the sentencing phase without deciding whether the man is guilty you've failed miserably in your duty as a juror. If you've decided that he's guilty, but you've also decided the evidence wasn't strong enough to prove it, you've really screwed up.

"used to be by gas" (past tense) in Cally: for a while DP has been officially by the needle: a DP sentence, in this state, doesn't mean he in fact ever GETS IT, by toast, tablet or dose!!

Wow, you resurrected a two year old posting, about the Peterson murders no less. Haven't we beat that story to death?
