Operational? How are they going to know that? Are they going to ask me to prove it?
I should send my 9 year old daughter up there with a squirt gun, a starters pistol and a prop shotgun and see how much money she comes back with.
Maybe I'll tack a trigger on to a broomstick and see how much they give her for that.

Great advertising as the crooks now know that many of the people leaving will be unarmed and carrying cash.Oh great idea! We should all wear red berets and call ourselves the Columbia Angels and tell the media we're there to escort these unarmed people back to their vehicles so that their new-found fortune {cough} isn't taken from them by armed thugs.

Since Capital City Stadium is government property, would it be technically a legal violation to carry a gun onto that property? I believe nearly all government facilities are off limits except for state parks, but not in the buildings.

Nothing will happen, after all they are not going to ask any questions of anyone that turns them in (ie. no felon/criminal will be arrested).

Nope, they would gladly take them off your hands for free though.

I don't think they will give you anything if it is non-operational/rusted crap. They will be glad to take them off your hands for free though.

When you take guns off the streets you save lives,
Yeah disarming the population saves the lives of murderers and rapists and others who do not deserve to live.

Only if you promise to destroy the one that were turned in, we don't want them getting back into circulation.

The firearms were an almost new Colt 1911 and an almost new Springfield 1903 rifle he had purchased just after the first world war in 1918.
It amazes me what people will throw away (including their own safety, by giving up guns), but also, those are some of the most legendary guns in history! They do not deserve to be made into rzorblades!

What: Gun Amnesty Day, where anyone turning in a firearm can receive $50 to $100, depending on the weapon and whether it is operational.
$50 to $100 is a ripoff, especially for rare and valueble guns. But I guess people will fall for it.

Maybe we should have a 'liberal politician buyback program'. Anyone turning in a liberal politician gets a check, and a hazard is taken off the streets.
Thats a great idea! Offer a free gun of any choice to those that turn in a liberal.

When you take guns off the streets you save lives, City Councilman E.W. Cromartie said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. Make our streets, homes and neighborhoods safe. You just can't make stuff like this up. I know it's hard to believe, but there are lots of other morons (mostly in blue states) who "think" just like this moron.
The idea for Gun Amnesty Day came from the Unity 2004 summit in October, which focused on improving services and programs to decrease youth violence.
Hey! I have an idea - lets disarm the victims and spend more taxpayer dollars on hriing more government employess to "improve services" I'm just sure this will decrease violence ha ha ha ha
City Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine that a Teen Hot Line will be available in January. By dialing 311, teens can talk to specially trained operators who will offer guidance regarding violence issues
I can see it now some thug calling a hotline and discussing his need to rob with a city employee. Where do city councilwomen get their brains sucked out, because I gotta say whoever did the job on this moonbat sure knew his business.

Thanks Paul.
If I wasn't clear, I'm against the buyback. Period.
You are correct, though.
My great state of South Carolina
isn't known for our "bright light bulbs".
We're in the state of construction.
To: uncleshag
Me too. Any form of disarmament, voulentary or otherwise is a way of liberals erasing our freedoms. I sure hope such a buyback (or less voulentary) thing does not happen here in Washinton.
To: looscnnn
How about they offer a 'fair market value' for each pistol, like $500.00 to $600.00 dollars per pistol instead $50 to $100 dollars per pistol.
In some places what Columbia is doing could be considered the crime of defrauding someone by offering a much lower price for something than what the market bares.
To: Paul C. Jesup
That is what the government does best.

You need to make your statements a little more bit broader.
