It's the F-Time Show With Chevy Chase [He was warm-up for Tom Daschle!]
Washington Post ^ | December 16, 2004 | By Richard Leiby

Posted on 12/16/2004 3:28:36 AM PST by johnny7

Even certified Hollywood liberals were reeling after Chevy Chase's potty-mouthed Bush-bashing Tuesday night at the Kennedy Center, where the actor hosted an awards ceremony staged by People for the American Way.

For most of the evening, Chase was his usual comedic self, delivering lines like "This just in -- resignations in the upper echelon of the Bush administration. The Bush sisters have resigned and are being replaced by Paris and Nicky Hilton. Back for more news later."

After actors Alec Baldwin and Susan Sarandon delivered speeches accepting their Defender of Democracy awards, Chase took the stage a final time and unleashed a rant against President Bush that stunned the crowd. He deployed the four-letter word that got Vice President Cheney in hot water, using it as a noun. Chase called the prez a "dumb [expletive]."

This must be part of the new, DNC 'values' movement.

Didn't we just read somewhere that the Dims were severing their malignant relationship with Hollywood? Hypocrits. No wonder people won't vote for this disgraceful bunch.

Forthem to hire him to speak and then distance themselves from what he says is the funniest part of the story, yeah right.

I hope these left-wing idiotologs keep it up for four more years and we will win again.

Chevy Chase hurt his back and had to leave by nine? Sounds to me as though he was WAY out of control and they had to tell him to get lost. They sure don't have much taste in speakers, do they?

The denzions of Hollywood need to scream even LOUDER their disdain and hate towards President Bush.

Yes, this is an excellent idea,,,,,,for the Republicans!! Fortunately for the GOP, the 'beautiful people' are so vapid and stupid they don't realize they are hurting their own cause.

Chevy was only funny when he was pulling this bit:

***

Fletch: "...Put it on Underhill"

Waiter: "ahh Muchas Gracias!"

Fletch: "Tierra Del Fuego."

******

Now in life, Chevy is an angry, bitter turd. Bummer.

Wasn't this "Chevy Chase" character working for a living then?

I have never liked Chevy Chase...

the only movie of his I have actually watched again was Caddyshack, mainly because of Bill Murray's character and Rodney Dangerfield, not becuase of Chevy Chase being a course bum or whatever he was supposed to be.

Chase also said: "This guy in office is an uneducated, real lying schmuck . .

Lesseeee...Bush went to Harvard and Yale.

According to Chase's biography:

. Expelled from Haverford College, after bringing a cow into the third floor of a campus building. Transferred to Bard College where he dated actress Blythe Danner.

I'll give him credit for nailing Blythe Danner, but Chevy, GW Bush has much better education credentials than you.

Just a little dialogue from 'Fletch', the movie. He was in the cabana house with Mrs. Stanwyk in the white towel.

He has seldom been funny since.

And Tuesday's poor behavior suggests that Chevy has a limited perspective on the world ....... and perhaps alot of alcohol.

Why these people are given center stage to spew this stuff is beyond my ability to grasp. My loathing of the hollyweird left knows no bounds. He's made his money and does'nt care obiviously. If Bush is such an idiot, lets see chase make a successful run for the Presidency. You don't get elected President by being stupid. You become a successful comedian by saying stupid things. Hey chevy, go screw yourself idiot.

This political action group cannot help itself. They allow addicted liberals to get on stage and spew venom. The hatred Chevey Chase and Whoopy Goldberg ( Karen Johnson) direct at President Bush puts their life and unhappiness on display. They are being used by the cowards running these hate groups to do the "dirty work"

The organizers of this event and the moveon.org event knew exactly what these two idiots do on stage. They expected it. They really want us to think they were shocked? I just hope it was filmed and saved. They hid the Goldberg show in New York and pretended it was nothing. Let us all see what that nasty hate group put out before the elitists. The voters need to see this.

And isn't it amazing that these "smart" Hollywood people have such, shall we say, limited vocabularies? And you are so right about the education slur they so casually throw around... to hear some of the Hollywood elite dismiss Pres. Bush's intelligence/education, you would think they had Ph.D.'s.... what arrogance. The good news is I truly think more and more Americans are getting fed up with it.

I was very disappointed recently to see that there was an ebay item of handwritten lyrics to one of Weird Al Yankovic's songs, which was being sold to raise money for People for the American Way. The ebay item description noted that the money would go to fight the right wingers! What an insult to a large portion of Al's fans.

Just to add to what you wrote of his education, I'm not sure this is true, most likely it is -- from yahoo.com:

****

"Chase was valedictorian of his high school class before attending Bard College, where he earned a B.A. in English."

He seems to have been a heck of a lot smarter when he was young. Today, he's apparently become just a bitter fool. Perhaps since everything he has done since the 80's has been less than sparkling, he's lost it.

What a waste.

Chase built a career on Saturday Night Live by being able to walk onto a set and do a realistic pratfall over a piece of furniture a la Gerald Ford. That's it. That's what he became famous for. He went to Hollywood and starred in a series of minor box office successes and flops which never seemed to dent his sense of self importance or make him realize that his own talents were limited. He's a dork who is now too old to fall over furniture without seriously hurting himself. What's left for him? Minor roles as father of the bride or curmudgeonly old gramps types would be my guess.

Interesting final paragraph...

Meanwhile, the other host of the evening, the newly blond Cynthia Nixon, told us she had a more gracious message for Bush: "Don't just listen to people who are telling you yes, listen to the people who are telling you no!"

I couldn't agree more. The president should listen to the people who are telling him 'no'. Like those who are saying, "No more porous borders, no more confiscatory taxes, no more coddling Kofi & company, and no more nicey-nice with the congressional leftists."
