And a Raleigh, N.C., church recently paid $7,600 for a full-page newspaper ad urging Christians to spend their money only with merchants who include the greeting "Merry Christmas" in ads and displays.

NC *Ping*

Please FRmail Constitution Day, TaxRelief OR Helms if you want to be added to or removed from this North Carolina ping list.

I wonder if on Dec 26th, these same stores that refuse to wish someone "Merry Christmas" will be having their "after Christmas" sales...

Unfortunately, many "Born-Again" Christians also are against Christmas. I know one who petitions stores and government against displays because he says Christmas is a Catholic, and, therefore, pagan, holiday unrelated to Jesus. Not kidding. Contemporary Christians are being attacked from all sides.

I make it a point to say "Merry Christmas" to my customers, and many of them seem to be pleasantly surprised. Most other people stick to "happy holidays" or something like that. I did have one woman wish me seasons greetings after I said it last night, but reactions like that are very rare. The place where I work also plays real Christmas songs instead of just secular winter holiday type stuff. At least they do something right.

Have you seen the Target TV ads? About as cynical and basic as you can get..."Get! Give!" Thats pretty much it.
At least there is no mistaking their stance.

Nor mine as I simply don't do business with them.

I saw a restaurant yesterday with "Seasons Greetings" and "Happy Holidays" posted all over, inside and out...but no "Merry Christmas".

I think they were abiding by the "separation of Church and STEAK".
