It's time to pass torch, younger Dems say
By Jill Lawrence, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON —
"This generation is looking for ways to participate because we're tired of losing," says Jamal Simmons, 33.
"We respect the struggles of the feminist movement, the civil rights movement and Vietnam, but (we) are not defined by those struggles," says Kirsten Powers, 37.

The younger generation of Democrats is exemplified by their "new" leadership: Kim Gandy of the NAGS, for instance. On the cultural side, look at Michael Moore or DefJam Simmons or whatever his name is...no, the new Democrat party is a joke, too.
Even the attempt to re-invent a "moderate" Democrat party by Obama, Harold Ford, and Hillary isn't going to work.

When a man keeps losing a race with the same car, he doesn't just replace the driver... When are Dems gonna' learn that the reason they keep losing is not a lack of persistence but a problem with their actual position?

Good luck with that, kids. The 'Rats in power today and their allies in the media and elsewhere (think Jesse Jackson) intend to hold onto power like the Politburo. Your party needs a spring cleaning like Michael Moore needs a bath, a haircut, a shave, a personal trainer, and a lobotomy.

"We respect the struggles of the feminist movement, the civil rights movement and Vietnam, but (we) are not defined by those struggles," says Kirsten Powers, 37. Yeah, but older liberals shoehorn just about everything into those struggles, along with Watergate.

lol, you're absolutely right. The whole of the Democrat party and its positions should be obliterated in favor of more updated, and rational, views :-D

You're right of course, but this new younger person sounds like they are heading in a better direction which if the dems follow that course they MAY be a little bit more of a problem in 2008 than they have been the last two elections.
Not by much but the GOP needs to take heed of this new dem strategy and strategize accordingly as we certainly do NOT want to take anything for granted and rest on our laurels.

The kids are on to something. I predict that in eight or so years, the Democrat Party will have a new hyphenated name. It will likely contain "children and families" or "green."

"we're tired of losing..."
No mention of the fact that they were in power for about 40 years...
If the "young rats" solution is to go more left, they can forget it...won't work.
