At least the guy in the wheel have a drink after his experience.

My question is... were the police afraid he was going to run with the scissors? (sorry tasteless, I know)

Hey, if they can taser a 6 year old there's no reason paraplegics should get preferential treatment

I still remember how the police shot some family's dog after they had the family on the ground, out of their car on the side of the road.
This was in Tenn. or NC I think.
They had stopped the wrong car too.

It looks like there's going to be a sequel to "It's a Wonderful Life."

In the new edition, Clarence (Jimmy Stewart's Guardian Angel) is a Miami police officer and every time he uses his taser... another angel get's his wings.

In New Haven, the cops would have shot him. Probably several times over. Seems to be their new SOP.

I've defended police in most of the taser incidents, but if the perp is firmly stuck in his wheelchair, there MUST be a less drastic way of subduing him.

I am not sure. Some of the 'plegics upper body strength can be overwhelming to normal-fitness cops. Lesson: don't threaten people with superior firepower, unless you WANT them to use it on you.

Let the air out of his tires, it's not rocket science.

Seriously, one of these days someone is going to have their heart turned off by one of those things. The lawyers will then need earth movers to cart the cash away.

You are exactly right. I have been a paramedic for 23 years and I can think of plenty of scenes very similar to this with paraplegics.

Paraplegics can be very powerful and very fast with their arms.

In fact, we had one regular patient who was so bad, the police always sent 4 officers with us every single time we responded to his house.
