With Ohio inching toward a final recount that trimmed a few hundred votes from President Bush's six-figure margin, elections officials said electronic voting systems worked as promised. But critics were unconvinced.
With recount results reported in 86 of 88 counties Tuesday, President Bush picked up 438 votes and Sen. John Kerry gained 680, narrowing Bush's 119,000-vote lead by 242 votes, according to an Associated Press survey.

We're Going For The Title In Washington State!!
As Hugh Hewitt said in his recent book, "If it ain't close, they can't cheat." Meaning that, if the votes are ever again as close as they were in Florida in 2000 or Washington State in 2004, the Dems will demand a recount and manage to find enuf votes to win. Democracy in action! (barf)
Maybe if the democrats can get a few thousand more re-re-re-re-recounts, they just may catch up he he he!
That's true, I'll give him that. However, he's still a chicken in my view for not coming out on his own and using the greens and libertarians for cover, or at least, partial-cover. Well, I'm not surprised--a sneaky coward now, as before.
It was retarded to ask for a recount at all, especially some 3rd party loser with NO chance of winning at all. However...having said that, at least they didn't repeat *one* of the mistakes of FL 2000.
Every time I even see the word "recount" I want to b*tchslap Al Gore.
At that rate, it will take him 242 more recounts to tie Bush.
It is extremely improbable that every count would always result in an increase for the Democrat. Simple odds dictate that the error should be 50/50 on both sides unless there is manipulation of the process.
Well written. /Thumbs up
It is my belief that they are looking for anything that can be used to make Ken Blackwell look bad. He is a star, very popular throughout the state, black and (heaven forbid) a real economic conservative. I think that black liberals are trying to hurt his reputation any way they can because the first black governor is probably going to be a republican named Blackwell.
The math tells me that it cost Ohio taxpayers $6,198.35 per vote to find the 242 votes.
DU has already started up with their cries of the re-count being rigged.
Do you know what their "solution" to this is? 'Cause if it's yet another recount, won't we "rig" those too? /sarcasm
These people are so out there it's pathetic, but sometimes it's hilarious, too. One DU post I read several weeks ago about republican's "rigging" the vote:
We have to do something about this NOW or we will NEVER will another presidential election again!
"narrowing Bush's 119,000-vote lead by 242 votes"
Ok, so when do they expect us to throw in the towel to concede defeat?
Sheesh.
