This is exactly the sort of "slippery slope" that was predicted when "Physician-Assisted Suicide" was enacted here in Oregon Do you happen to know if the Oregon system was modeled on the Dutch one? As you point out, it began this way in Holland, then they extended it to those who could not ask, next came the infants, followed this year by children up to 12 years of age and now .... this!

"Interesting people, the Dutch."
Well, they try to run their country as it seems best to them. This is a democracy in action, thus should not elicit any untoward interest.

They're all modeled on the Nazi one. (You're not getting anything rational out of me on this issue...)

What will be next "I have a hang nail and want to die"! Get over it already. Life is full of high drama, trauma and tragedy. We are supposed to learn to deal with these things and know that we will get through the tough times with the help of God.

I guess next time I get a cold I better not say, "man, I feel like I'm gonna die"
Lest my doctor take it upon himself to assume that was a wish and not a commentary.

A civilized society doesn't gas mass murderers.
A civilized society does gas people in wheelchairs.

Their view of life seems very strange--euthenasia is okay but capital punishment isn't. Prostitution and drugs are okay, then up pops this new STD. They allow in so many Muslims (Indonesian, of course) then have a horrific murder of Theo van Gogh by Islamic fanatics.
I just kind of wonder how they validate these things when they connect the dots. It's not really about the democracy aspect at all. It's about the Dutch themselves.

This is what happens when secular humanism takes over. They always say that we can still maintain basic ethics and morals in a secular humanist world. Sure, that is until you actually start living in that type of world, free of the traditional morals and ethics we started with. Once you say it's OK to kill old cancer patients, there's really nothing ethically or morally wrong with killing old bored people, is there?
It's funny, these articles always surprise me, yet don't suprise me anymore. Can't wait til the next permutation of the Netherlands' death fetish.

I'm not sure I catch your drift here. Are you saying because there was some sort of democratic action that allows for euthenesia, then it automatically becomes OK? So if Hitler had say, passed a public referendum to gas the Jews before he actually did it, that would make it OK.

Not really. You seem to be saying that by virtue of this being democracy in action, it is OK to discard any ethical concerns with euthenesia.
