WE NEED TO SEE THOSE MEMOS AGAIN!

They are not in the style that we used when I came in to the USAF. They looked like the style and format we started using about 12 years ago (1992). Our signature blocks were left justified, now they are rigth of center...like the ones they just showed.

Can we get a copy of those memos?

Buckhead hit the nail on the head earlier and in a much more visible forum than Powerline.

People have been stealing from us for YEARS, with no credit.

If the MSM listened to Okrent of the NYT's, they could reform -- and earn back lost respect. Will it happen? Don't hold your breath...

The funny thing is, they would still have a future if they even bothered to be fair, but even this writer still maintains that the M$M is "balanced". How can they ever fix what is wrong when they fail to see the problem.

Way off topic here

Actually, you're further off topic than you realize :)

I actually have wondered why the formatting errors weren't given more prominence in the argument that the memos were faked.

Just my humble opinion, but I think it's more of a technical thing. The formatting, while a critical point in the overall argument, may have appeared too obvious to be important. IOW, formatting just didn't have the sex appeal of the font/kerning issue. Not fair, but rest assured your contribution has been noted by many folks inside and outside of FR. You helped make history.

I would like to personally thank you for your contribution.

BTW, you should have one of these for your very own ;^)

I agree. We were ten hours ahead of them!

And to think that you were a part of the making of an historic moment - how cool is that!

The more popular blogs are, the stronger they get. And they're not getting any less popular.

And, there is also the trust angle.

You see, the more people consult Blogs (and sites like FR), the more they realize how deceitful and one-sided main stream media (this includes YOU, TIME magazine) really are.

Once people feel lied-to by a news source, there is absolutely no amount of truth-telling that will regain their trust.

We are FR the unspeakable. They are afraid to even whisper our name. Silly!

Thanks for posting this. Powerline happens to be my favorite blog to read. Free Republic is my favorite news source, along with Drudge.
