Reading an eyewitness account saying "bodies litter the beach" has far less impact than the photo. What a disaster...

The cavalier manner in which the press has been treating these photos has become offensive to me.Not this thread mind you, but the press in general has been pretty poorly behaved.

Thanks for showing us what the media isn't allowed
to show. The last pic is haunting.

Wow, it is incredible how fast decomposition starts on the equator. It is hard to feel sorry for some of those clowns on the bridge(?) taking photos of a 40ft wall of H2O coming at them. What were they thinking.

To: mlbford2
I know. It isn't that I haven't seen bodies before, but the scope of this is gutwrenching.
I'm not sure either what the people on the bridge were thinking initially, but at some point it was something like "Holy s..t!"

There were several waves that came in. It seems that the first waves were not devastating, so the people acted like it was a sightseeing trip. Seen that in several of the videos too. You hear people saying it is coming again, then the realization it is time to run.

I'm just praying that the baby is ok. It's not immediately apparant what happened, but the baby doesn't appear to be injured. We have a new baby, born 12/7, and that picture really hits home for me as well.
To: Jeff Head
They all seem to have stupid grins on their faces. As if it were an amusement park.
To: Psycho_Bunny
YOU know I might agree with you BUT in this country we need to see the effects so we can react with our money, IF I dont see it I dont believe it ,look at the un and iraq all that money, and not one photo of where it was going ,fool us once not forever and ever.

I'm afraid those are grimaces. Probably out at the seawall watching the waves on a Sunday with their families...and were at first excited to see a really big one, realizing only too late that it was far, far too big.

People react to sudden events the way they react. A smile is often a reaction to a tense situation. They are not posing and they don't necessarily decide they should have looks of terror on their faces. If such an event hits who knows how I'll look or what I'll think and do.

I noticed that too but I bet that they don't realize the enormity of the situation, and why would they? Who would expect to be suddenly swallowed up by the ocean? It's unthinkable.
