Have you heard about this Rottie whose owner had a heart attack in the woods (Animal Planet) and the dog dragged him all the way back home? The Rottie had torn his muscles in his legs pulling the guy but he didn't quit. Somehow kept going. Such love, I can't imagine other than God's.
One day a man drove by a farm and saw a three-legged pig. The man went up to the farmer and said, "Excuse me sir, but why does that pig only have 3 legs?"
"Well," said the farmer, "that there pig is very special. One time my wife was cooking something she stepped out of the kitchen and it caught on fire. No one in the house knew about it but the pig and he saved me, my wife, and my 2 kids."
"That's amazing sir but why does that pig onlly have three legs?" said the man.
"Then there was that time the pig saw a big storm coming and we didn't. The pig ran into the house and dragged us out to the storm cellar. If it weren't for that pig we would all be dead."
"But still, that doesn't explain why the pig only has 3 legs."
"And I remember the time my youngest son was stuck up in a tree but I was too far away to hear him scream. The pig came running towards me and led me to where he was."
"Well, that is miracle but how come that pig only has 3 legs?" the man said quite annoyed at this point.
"Well," said the farmer, "with a pig that special, you can't eat him all at once."

Oh my gosh. Those children will grow up to be wonderful, compassionate people.
I saw the show about the Rottie whose owner was trucker.
When the dog saw the guy getting mugged and beaten as he walked back to his truck at a truckstop parking lot, she jumped out the truck window, completely shattering one of her front leg bones upon landing and -still- proceeded to run a hundred feet and seriously maul the creep who was attacking her "daddy".
God bless all the good dogs.
I wouldn't live without at least one dog.
Without a dog, for me, it's not really living.
There must be something instinctive about smoke being trouble. When I had lately moved into a new house and the furnace came on for the first time in the fall season, the air belching out of it smelled of oil smoke for a minute or two. (It's like that every time it hasn't run for a few months.) My cat started meowing in panic at once.
Don't get me started or I'll post that "If sorrow were a staircase" thing....:)
That may well be but why did the *other* 5 dogs just lay there like a buncha idjits?....LOL!
[possibly since Minnie was the "boss" of them all, they were politely waiting for ~her~ to do something]....;)

I understand what you are saying about living (not really living) without dogs.
Heaven wouldn't be heaven without my puppy dogs.
I was listening to a preacher the other night who said that heaven was a place where you would have everything you needed to make you happy.
He added that, if your pets were what you needed, you'd have them, too.
I sure look forward to that....:)

I miss CA sometimes, but not wondering if it was THE BIG ONE every time the floor shook.

I was relieved when PetsMart finaly sold the last one so I wouldn't bawl in public everytime I went for dogfood or toys.
